- Lets you sit on almost any bench/chair/couch + anything that resembles those

- Easy to use, automatic sittable surface detection

- Very immersive

#Sit Anywhere

Why the scanning? Does the prompt get in the way of other things too often otherwise? Just accidentally sitting everywhere instead of picking up loot?
That, plus i dont want to run all the raycast stuff if not needed
Also i imagine it to be kind of annoying after a while if you get constantly spammed with the icon + popup
maybe it can only show up when close to the center of the screen? how the loot menu only shows up in a very small zone.
(but this can show up with a larger zone)
Thats not really doable, as the entire "can i sit here" detection is done at runtime with raycasts. So you need at least one raycast to start with for further verification, where you can be sure that it hits somewhere in the area where you want to sit
i.. am not aware of internals.. but does the loot system work differently?
like the menu or hotkey option to loot an item wont appear even if u are standing near it unless you face it and bring that item to near center of screen
near the crosshair
Yes, very much
so.. would it be possible to reuse that system for this?
Nope
The bench / whatever is not an object you can pick up via code in any way, hence the physical raycasting based approach
Like literally being blind and just trying to feel if the thing in front of you is a bench
but the same goes for door closing. door closing hotkey only shows up when you are particularly looking at the edges of a door..
is that using raycasting?
i see
Bench is just a static mesh with no logic attached to it
okay, then to maybe ease up the trigger point... how about a custom key to start the detection? like this mod "open sesame" - you can set the same hotkey as door opening hotkey and it will work in tandem. for doors that do not show up any "open" or "open(locked" .. you can press the hotkey and it will trigger the mod action
And what would be the advantage of this over just holding down the "scanning" key?
scanning ui is more immersive and therefore.. more "in the way"
there's the glitch effect, the color overlay, the hud elements..
I see what you mean, but isnt having to set a custom hotkey in CETs UI more immersion breaking? Also youre not gonna be constantly scanning for something to sit on i imagine
true. but its a one time thing. and it can literally be the same key as open doors. (or in other words, the same hotkey as when the game in itself allows us to lean/sit sometimes)
so there's continuity
Is E3 just a synonym for "should've been in the game on release" on this server? I think I'm onto smth
I’m in love with this. Thank you for your effort 🦾
You'd probably want to scan before you sat down in Nightcity based on the number of guys jacking off to VR in the background of street scenes in edgerunners. god knows what you'd sit in otherwise
this is so freaking cool!
the constant "stand up" going away makes it even cooler!
