#Working MO2 for Cyberpunk

I fixed MO2 to work with Cyberpunk using a tool called root builder. All packaged via Wabbajack (modlist installer) so it sets everything up for you.
https://github.com/JustThatKing/MO2077/blob/main/readme.md

It effectively manually deploys all files from bin, engine, mods (Redmod), r6 and red4ext prior to runtime, then cleans up the installation after the game closes.
All the convenience of a mod manager without the issues that they have had with Cyberpunk.

Note: This is not just installing MO2 and ignoring the issues that normally exist with CET, etc. Please look at it before instantly dismissing it as broken.

Feel free to ping me with questions (because I probably won't see it if you don't ping me)

I could never get this working - does the Root "mod" required by Root Builder need to look like this?

would this create a conflict with my skyrim installation tho

neon quest
#

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't different games considered different profiles for it?

wanton bronze
#

yea but this is like a generic plugin for mo2 isnt it

#

although i can see it being useful for skyrim aswell honestly

#

but i dunno if it implies reinstalling the whole mod list

#

wait i was looking at the wrong link ignore what i said

@neon quest @wanton bronze This is a portable installation of MO2 dedicated and ONLY working with your Cyberpunk installation.

#

if you would want skyrim stuff you would make a separate MO2 Instance

Weird - not sure why it won’t work on my setup - Root Builder puts the contents of the Root mod into a Builder folder in the Cyberpunk 2077 directory but doesn’t get any further (I presume the next part of the plugin code was meant to move the contents of the Builder folder to the Cyberpunk 2077 directory)

#

Very weird

#

@split temple u tested that so I guess it it time for pings 😄

split temple
#

And no. It doesn't break Skyrim installations...it's self contained

split temple

#

Very weird, for me the Builder folder is created but nothing else happens

#

Ach well, will wait in hope that the MO2 devs will improve the Cyberpunk plugin

split temple
#

First load will build the folder, then just run the game again

#

Sometimes you have to click run twice

supple zealot
#

Yeah still doesn't like it, never actually moves the files at any point - could be something interrupting Root Builder - I'll have another butcher at it eventually

#

Clean install?

#

Aka removed manual stuff and purged any Vortex links

supple zealot
#

Yup, clean install - never used Vortex so shouldn't have any links kicking about

Gonna try with a clean MO2 setup next (i.e just Root Builder containing CET and Redscript) - must be something really fucked with my setup as I don't recall seeing any other complaints from users

split temple
#

Ohhhhhhhh

#

You're doing it from scratch?

#

The root builder is setup up with custom configuration stuff

supple zealot
#

No no, I'm using the Root Builder plugin normally - what I meant was, my next troubleshooting step will be to remove all the mods from MO2 and try with just Root Builder and CET

split temple
#

That should help

#

I'm going to write a manual step by step on setting it up at some point

supple zealot
#

Aye that's how I had mine setup, almost exactly (minus the lua entry under Link Extensions I think)

split temple
#

Ah right, weird asf thing I encountered

#

(only applies if you do it yourself from scratch) > You have to launch once with just CET

#

Then you can add everything

#

Why? Idk

#

You don't have to with the Wabbajack as that's all been done

supple zealot
split temple
#

Never in the game folder directly except few very weird edge cases

#

The whole point is that the game folder is effectively clean

supple zealot
#

Aye was just double checking

split temple
#

Just MO2 + setup root builder + CET

#

Run, then you can insta alt f4

#

Then can add other stuff

#

I need to write this up at some point....but I was gettingthe modlist documentation sorted. Hell, still need to do the Nexus page

#

how does it work? well flawless?

split temple
#

Haven't encountered major issues. Only real "problem" is mods like AMM need the archive requirements to be installed manually. All the rest works without issue

#

Do all installs need to be inside of a Root folder? What do you do with all the extra stuff that gets dumped in the Overwrite folder?
