Essentialism is the discipline of continuously defining where we can create the most value, then finding ways to execute most effortlessly.

  1. Explore and Evaluate: Identify the Vital Few
  2. Eliminate: Cut Out the Trivialities
  3. Execute: Remove Constraints and Make Execution Effortless

I believe due to the current state of life, everyone are influenced by the trending things that happen around us, and most of us have lost the art of focusing on the few vital things that matter in life.

Because those things are usually boring as to what happened decades ago.

Considering social media as a trend, considering books it self. If the books are best selling authors and million copies or have reviews on websites, people are most often swayed by it. Instead of them trying out each and everything and choosing which principles to apply in life.

I agree I think it’s part of the information/attention economy we are inundated with more information and bids for our attention than we can process and it shifts us from internally to externally focused.
One of the reasons I’ve come to love winter (in North America) is due to the first half of the season is focused on family due to the holidays and then you have New Years to focus on goal setting but you are still left with 2 more months of winter to slow down and allow space for free thought, the weather tamps down on the desire to constantly go and do, and so you are left with lots of time to be reflective.
