In Man’s Search for Meaning, Viktor Frankl tells his story of surviving a concentration camp and how this experience led to his theory on the importance of meaning in one’s life (Logotherapy)

#

Logotherapy was a pretty interesting theory used in the book.!

The 3 possible sources for meaning:

  1. Work, by doing something significant
  2. Love, by caring for another person
  3. Courage during difficult times
#

I will try to translate to my best in short summaries.

#

The author wants to say, that in the nazi prison camp, the prisoners weren't afraid of dying thinking about the future. But instead they were trying to survive the present and that's what helped them in the survival.

#

Hope is a niche motivational word, but most don't apply the same in the life. In times of difficulties, most tend to run away from difficulties (commit sucide in Nazi camp) instead of facing them (surviving and searching meaning of life).

"We shouldn't expect from life, instead we should try to understand what life expects from us."

# late lotus isn't job more status related and work the force involved in the job?

I think of finding meaning in work as purpose through responsibility and productivity. Any job can be meaningful if it allows you to fulfill the need to work. I’m not sure how to explain it exactly but a lot of philosophers and psychologists have talked about how people need work to have a meaningful life and that that work doesn’t need to be grand and the passion of the person but needs to allow them to be able to have a sense of productivity and responsibility

Only 5 languages dang @split mortar step up your game 😂

ooh sure, especially since job can be considered as a "distraction" from the reality of death, and people who have the leisure to not work are notorious to feel empty

# pastel vine Could you explore the difference between work and a job?

From my POV,
job is basically something that you are forced to do.
And work is something that you enjoy to do.
Most people do jobs because they aren't putting in the hard work hours in their passion to enjoy the luxury of work. And over-time, most do not tend to know that when work becomes your job, it is the most blissful moment of life.

I see your point of view and I thought the point about making time for your passions was amazing! But I disagree work can be meaningful without being a career or your passion being your job
