#✅ - Sword blade weld breaking

So I’ve got this katana blade that I’ve tried welding back together twice now and it’s broken for a third time at the same spot. 🫠

I was thinking of welding it to the body part it inserts into instead of in the same place as the last two times but then I was debating trying something else instead of welding it again, maybe some epoxy or something? Thoughts?

Is it completely breaking in two pieces or just splitting on one side?
I am thinking that you might be able to add some support in there, if you drill a hole and add some metal rods, bamboo cane, or wooden dowels, as the joint/area braking seems ti suggest you need the support.
In hindsight next time up the infill on the weak part, but this is totally fixable.

Breaking into two pieces, it’s a pretty thin piece so I hadn’t initially considered inserting a support but I think that might actually be good to try, just got to get something thinner than what I currently have on hand.

I had printed the blade with 6 walls thinking that would be strong enough but I think my infill was only like 5% 🙃

That looks the perfect side for a metal ruler or flat bar to go in to strengthen the join, might need to remove some supports but it’s should work.
Walls are good but just the handle supports could be stronger.

That’s genius! I had some spare mending plates that fit pretty snug in there that I think will do the trick. Thanks for the help!
