I used citadel chaos black spray paint
Can you please show a photo of your issue?
Did you sand your print before painting?
Yes it is for proper adhesion
Without sanding the paint has nothing to stick to
Preparation is the number 1 key to a good paint job
Sandpaper is relatively cheap
im a minor and nearest hardware shop is like 15 km away
maybe if i can convince my mom to drive me
actually could i buy online?
If you are not looking for perfect results and just a quick paint job a quick scuff of 80 grit could help with adhesion
If you are serious I would do 80, 180, 220, 320, primer, 600, paint
That’s my process
i got some citadel chaos black like 2 years ago would that work as primer.
For primer you want to use a high build to fill imperfections
i have no idea what u just said
So a high build primer is thicker so it can fill in the imperfections in the surface whilst providing adhesion for paint
And with my process I get results like this:
ight final question
i got some warhammer at home
just the regular space marines
do i need to sand them first as well?
or can i just do it without sanding
You could just hit it with a scuff pad and go to paint
so in conclusion i need sandpaper
This is a scuff pad
It’s a soft abrasive which prepares the surface without removing too much material
It is used when a surface is already smooth
ight
damn this getting expensive icl
would this be fine? https://www.praxis.nl/gereedschap-werkplaats/handgereedschap/schuurpapier-blokken/schuurpapier/baseline-schuurpapierpack-mouse-20stuks/5272333
Baseline schuurpapierpack mouse 20 stuks
its dutch but
Do you have an electric sander?
no
Those are for one
Yes
this?
Yes but that is only 60 grit

You should get grits in order from low to high to get smoother results
For something small like that I guess you could get 80 but the finish would not be that good
Also you want to do lighter coats with paint, not too heavy
Don’t expect good results then
And I don’t mean that in a harsh way
i get what u mean
Just if you want something to look good you have to put in the effort
I personally work in a body shop so I’m used to sanding for long periods of time
They could, not too sure about it though
Never used them personally
k
tbf if they can eat through the metal of some old scissors i think they will do fine with plastic
cya and gn then
Good luck
@graceful creek came in abit late here, but the warhammer marines you maint that with special paint, that adheres to the plastic at once, you brush it on, no spraycans. Use Citadel model paint, the guys from warhammer make it. I painted my warhammer Lord of the Rings fellowship figures with it.
I got the citadel paints starter set
just clean them thoroughly or the paint wont stick
Clean them with what
i used dish soap and a toothbrush to clean them, degrease them and a nitryl glove, if i touch them so they keep clean.
rubber glove, just don't put you fingers on them after they are clean
I’m not too familiar with war hammer but you can also use alcohol to clean I believe
I prefer alcohol when cleaning plastic compared to soap and water I find it cleans better
That’s just from my experience in auto body
it depends, you have metal warhammer figures and plastic ones, i wouln't use alcohol on the plastic figures alcohol makes the plastic weak
they call the metal ones white metal, but i think the correct term is Pewter.
I have a metal Sauron from warhammer
Good to know
I have made a few marines myself, but my cousin has made like 5000 of them
a complete army
Wow
he's been at it for 40 years or so
he used to make little metal F1 cars too, from coke cans, like 2 cm long painted as john player special, williams marlboro, lotus etc
like the warhammer obsession it started with a board game, he also had a f1 racing boardgame, hence those tiny models
That’s actually sick
he cut up a rubber gasket ring in tiny disks for tyres
