#Ender 3 V2 not posting after upgrades

I have an ender 3 v2 had it for a few years now and wanted to upgrade it so i purchased a sprite Head cr touch and a 4.2.7 main board. Install went fine but i cannot get this thing to post.

Turning it on, the cr touch cycles, fans run, but the screen lights up black. I used the 8 g msd card that came with the printer but it wouldnt post.
I tracked down a 4 gig msd card to try because some threads said to use a sub 8g card though it hasnt worked either

I have tried the firmware from creality website and the jyers stuff from github with 2 different tutorials. I have tried a 8gb msd card and a 4gb msd card. I have flashed just the screen and just the main board to no avail. I even put the old mainboard back into see if that would get it to run temporarily untill i could get help but the screen remained lit with nothing displayed. The new 4.2.7. Board is in it currently( it used to have a 422 boardif that matters) i have done my best to keep the board clean like nobody touching the capacitors and stuff the board has no visual defects that i can see all the connections are tightthere are 2 cables that have remained un plugged thats the old extruder motor because the sprite and one little 2 pin guy that the sprite extruder says in the instructions "terminals with out labels are redundant and do not need to be connected to the motherboard." There is no open spot for the 2 pin terminal coming from the sprite so i left it unpluged

Then you need to check what processor /memory you have on your motherboard because creality were a bit of a wanker and aold different combinations under the same name

#

Th3d offers working firmwares and a good support for them but its 5 bucks

#

Insanityautomation and tinymachines also have a good pile of div firmwares for free

#

(Og crealitys firmware is horrible like currently im at a 25 .. 35% success rate due the chip roulette)

stable glade
#

Im fairly certain its a dwin board by the dwin sticker in the corner

I gotta pull the back to see what the chip is but how do i see what memory it is?

woven tusk
#

There is a mythical 5th one too

stable glade
#

I dont think i need to remove the sticker to say its a Dwin board. Are there any common issues with them making flashing them exceptionally difficult?

woven tusk
#

Non available ui and sometimea no Bootloader

stable glade
#

Is there a cure doc?

woven tusk
#

I would try to connect it to pronter face to see if its posting something and just the screen is faulty

stable glade
#

Okay and once i download this what am i looking for? I download i connect the printer then can i update it through pronterface or is this just to make sure i didnt brick it?

stable glade
#

With 3 seperate usb cables in every port on my tower i cannot get it to identify in device manager. That being said i cant tell if the cables i used are data transfer cables or just old charger cords. Would that make a difference ?

woven tusk
#

Rarely just data cables would prevent accidentaly sending power back but thats rather unlikly.

#

Did you instal the ch340 driver?

stable glade
#

Ch340 driver ? I downloaded exactly like the video sent. what is the ch340 driver ?

woven tusk
#

The driver needed to talk to your printer

stable glade
#

please forgive me is this a physical item i need or is it something i need to download?

stable glade
#

i downloaded the ch340 driver like in the video and i still cannot get the board to pop up in ports on device manager

woven tusk
#

Hmm

#

Its a
Down load

woven tusk
#

What happens if you unplug the bltouch?

stable glade
#

Its a cr touch does that make a difference?

woven tusk
#

Cr touch does not use a hallsensor but a lightswitch i think so yes. It should also have no adjustment screw

#

If you made an software update to a bltouch though yea

#

I think it was 2 firmwares because the cr touch has less wiries

stable glade
#

unplugging the cr touch from the board does not change anything other than now it doesnt trigger on startup

woven tusk
#

Hmm

#

I mean it should have only a 2 wire connector right?

stable glade
#

Nope its 4 pins iirc

woven tusk
#

Okay my bad

#

Im somewhat at a loos right now. Can you take a picture of your board?

stable glade
#

I am at work currently i hope this works it is not my physical board but this is the photo from the listing i bought it from

woven tusk
#

It would be best if its the one you really have due the mentioned chip roulette

stable glade
#

Okay i can take a picture of the physical board when i get home. I appreciate you working with me thabk you

woven tusk
#

No problem i have the feeling its something basic we both will do this after

stable glade
#

i probably just reversed the flux capacitor or need to top off the fuse oil.

woven tusk
#

Or rename the firmware to firmware42069 .. which im not kidding you is based on a real issue where updates were not installed if the .bin or .hex wasnt named firmware+random number.

stable glade
#

Hoping im not making this more complicated

#

I dont know what each chip is so i put diff colors to them i tried to take pics of everything that had writing but these are what i would refer to as chips in the board

woven tusk
#

Dis you check if the fuse is blown. Also the markinsmake impossiblyto read the texto the chips...

#

But its 7 am here .

#

Time to get sleep

stable glade
#

Heres all the same pics without markings i tried to mark off the chip so they could be read sorry

woven tusk
#

no problem

#

@vivid gyro you are way better then myself with firmware. i think its the issue with creality shipping a firmware for 512kbits ram on a board with just 256 can you take a closer look?

vivid gyro
#

its a 427 board so id say to start with a known good binary to flash

#

looks like E3V2, Dwin screen, BLTouch, 427 board

#

You guys and all the tutorials keep mentioning bl touch but i have a cr touch i know theyre diff modules but i havent found a program for cr touch do i need a seperate program for it? Every single video or pack i find mentions bl not cr

vivid gyro
#

The CR touch was designed to emulate the control methodology of the BL touch so firmware defines it as such because they were the originator of that interface

#

Although the CR touch has a slightly higher standard deviation and does not support the high speed mode, it is still primarily compatible

#

On older generation CR touch probes high speed mode actually caused it to fault out, in which case you can send one g code command to disable it and move on with life if you have an old one

#

Newer ones seem to safely ignore it

#

So that's why when you're talking from the firmware side everybody just says BL touch because the code is all written around and labeled BL touch

#

Doesn't know any difference which one it's controlling

stable glade
#

Got it thank you

stable glade
#

hey both links you sent are blankor they dont open anything sorry it took me so long to get to it

stable glade
#

nvm figured out. flashed with a 4gb msd card full formatted before trying any new firmware ( not quick format)the MB and the screen with the files you provided and the screen is still on but not working

#

i should have time earlier tomorrow to try other things today was busy.Im in California so GMT-7 if that helps with comunication

vivid gyro
#

If you leave allocation size default it won't work

stable glade
#

Yes fat 32 and 4096 alocation

stable glade
#

is there a way to remove all the things i have tried? like to start completely from the beginning. i have flashed with ender firmware with marlin with jyers or whatever. is there a way i could wipe all the stuff ive done to the MB and the screen to make sure its not "contaminated" for lack of a better word? i keep seeing people say it remembers the stuff you have tried before so you have to change the names on the different files. i cant confirm the MB went through untill i get the screen to work

woven tusk
#

You update by naming the new firmware like firmware12345. If it successfully updates the file gets renamed just firmware.

#

So if you plug it back into your pc and its named firmware. Board update should be done

vivid gyro

Whole question right now is if the screen or motherboard is the problem. When the screen flashes, you should get a blue screen with the files transferred listed. Can you take a photo of it? Next is getting a USB cable to the motherboard from youre PC and seeing if anything comes up... Test the cable on something else as well, youd be surprised how many are charge only and dont have data wires at all

That was something that happens when the wrong .bin file was used. Maybe on the sd was a different .bin to the one you wanted and it mixed these up?

stable glade
#

Maybe is there a way to check if that was the case or correct it?

woven tusk
#

Searching for the correct firmware and istall it again yes

stable glade
#

What is the correct firmware?

If i knewthat i would have posted ir
