Did you apply clear coat?

#

If so how many coats did you do?

wispy shore
#

Didn’t clear coat yet

#

It was gold paint for an iron man helmet

tulip flare
#

That’s exactly why

wispy shore
#

And I wanted to smooth it down before clear coating

#

Oh are you supposed to clear coat before wet sanding

tulip flare
#

If you wetsand paint, paint is gonna come off

wispy shore
#

Ohhh

#

Google told me otherwise😔

#

You can wet sand paint to remove imperfections before the next coat of the same color

wispy shore
#

Ah

tulip flare
#

What grit were you using?

wispy shore
#

1000

#

Also will primer adhere to this coat of paint or will I have to sand it all away first

tulip flare
#

That may be too high for the next coats to even stick

wispy shore
#

Oh

#

That answers it

#

I’ll just sand this down

#

There were some layer lines showing anyways

Paint sticks to 800 max from my experience in auto body

wispy shore
#

Ah thank you!

#

Illl sand this down add some bondo in some parts then re prime

tulip flare
#

I recommend getting to 600 grit before paint

#

That’s a nice finish

wispy shore
#

I’ll use this as an opportunity for it to come out better

#

Thank you!

tulip flare
#

You can go 800 if you are extra
