Yes, when you cut the old USB cable it should have a red and black wire. The Red wire is positive (+) at the Black wire is negative (ground / -)

I found out my problem I was powering the board with usb but the usb I had was bad not sure why but I cut and soldered a new one and it all works fine thanks everyone
