Try some metal brushes by hand, and work up to stiffer brushes, or some car polishing compound and a toothbrush
toxic sinew
some of the larger stuff you can melt to be a little smoother with a soldering iron. I've done that, and I also plan on using a dremel to sand some smaller areas
