Hey everyone. I’m motorizing a MK-85 helmet and I am having power issues. I went through a lot of trouble shooting reworking etc. First off is the problem is my servos will not consistently turn to open and closed positions (even with arms removed). I finally noticed if I unplug pin 9 the other servo goes back and forth perfectly. Visa versa I unplug pin 10 and the other turns perfect. Both together though don’t always make to to their positions.

I’ve tried three different power supplies and three different usb cables. One power supply being 5v 3a (so it says). 2 usbs were random ones lying around the third was purchased rated at 5v 5a.

A few things to consider:

  • How is your setup wired ? (Can you share a picture)

  • Not All USB cables are created the same, some "restrict" the amount of power they can handle since they are only designed for "data". You need to make sure the USB cable you are using to connect the power bank is designed for "charging". Charging type USB cables do not restrict power.

Some Examples of Charging type USB cables:

  • Also sometime, even though not obvious, the swtich that is being used can be a problem if it is not a "Momentary / Normall Open (NO) " type switch. Or when using a limit type switch, as found on 3d printers, it needs to be configured correctly:

The other power supply I had and was a 5v2amp also and like I said the other usbs were random but multimeter always read 5v I can’t measure the amps though

I can share the wiring tomorrow but I’m fairly certain it’s correct I Redid it a few times even using completely different wires and even mimicked Franks to a T just to make sure when I was stumped.
