Looks good, give tree supports a shot though. It will keep a few supports off the hexagons where sports would try to start building. Might need to go in to all cura settings and make tree supports visible
I have them as an option just dont want to ruin the hexagonal pattern is my concern
would you say they wouldnt be too affected?
Tree supports would be the best way to keep the hexagon pattern. When supports build they generate an interface on the top and bottom of the build. Tree supports only have an interface on the top, because they build from the base up, and they're usually smaller, so they're easier to break off and you won't have a lot of residual clean up to do
Block out the supports that are being generated on the "free file from do3d" it's on the inside and that will save some filament. Yep, looks good! If this is your first time, welcome to tree supports!
yesh1 I chose the starboost to really learn so far so good
some sanding and bondo work to do but the back was worrying me
It's looking awesome so far! I can't wait to see how it turns out! And that's the best way to learn. I'm working on a mark 85 right now, and it's taught me an absolute world of printing, orienting, cutting. But, watch Frank's videos. And study them, he gives a world of information, but there's so much to cover, there's no way you could fit it all into one series. I honestly think his mk39 series is helping me with my suit more than the mk85 series. And we're all here to help. I've made several mistakes, so please feel free to PM me, I'll be happy to take a look if anything comes up
yes please! only issue with this one is the earns pinch getting in on the jaw joint. helmets roomy and okay fit other wise. Luckily its a shelf piece to learn on!
have def watched all of his videos
One thing that might help with that is a neck gaiter, could help pull your ears in and help it to not pinch. Is that walsh3d's helmet or do3d?
its DO3D
wanted to learn the motorizing and its the first I found
was talking with Levy3D on insta about how to get the crashwork motors and kit to work on it
Ooh. So if you're going to print another one, check out walsh3d on Instagram. He has a mk39 helmet for free, just go to his bio, that's got all the motorization stuff pre-modeled into it. It would be way easier than the crashworks kit, but it still works with the crashworks code. Plus, I think it looks just a little bit better than the do3d helmet. Levy is awesome! The mk85 he just released for free is... I don't have words to describe how awesome it is.
my next project is levys pre set to motorize mark 85 for sure
prob wont be doing any more starboost after finishing this helmet
gonna learn the hinge kit project utilizing crashworks files. hopefully can get it to work.
I'm sure you'll get it! It's pretty straight forward, you just need to take your time and have some patience. One quick heads up, the crashworks arduino code has changed in 2023, so follow the instructions as close as you can. Took me a couple tries to get everything working in arduino, but discord helped a lot. And if you're still having some trouble, search for cranshark here in discord.
was thinking of going analog as its a shelf peice
Analog is a great way to go too! Lot of really cool systems you can take advantage of, and you can really customize it to make it yours.
want a button on table to press to open it etc. should be much more straight forward
