Hello! For starters I have very little blender and 3d modeling knowledge, but I just wanted to know if it was possible to get quality 3d prints from game models by using the converting the model's normal map to geometry so the model would not be low-poly and instead have all the intricate details present when the normal map is applied. Is there a simple way to do this, or is the only option remodeling the whole thing from scratch?
#can you re-add details to game models using normal maps?

My guess would possibly to remodel it. You can probably add points and geometry to the ripped models mesh but it may not be pretty. I don't have a ton of experience with blender though so I'm not sure if that's completely right.
As for the sword, I don't know if you were determined on designing it yourself or if your reason for trying to convert the game rip was to just print it. But I know of a designer who sells their own files of Noah's sword if your just looking to print it and not necessarily draw it up your self
its totally possible to create or deform models by using normal maps or any type of height info, but i would not recommend at all.
I believe for this to work, you will have to make a ton of subdivisions to make the map actually affect the mesh. And when you do that, your model ill have a ton of geometry, it will be a very big file.
Also the corners of details wont be perfect because they are made from the height image wich hs pixels. So when using this method you cant get a perfect edge
here is a great video on the subject...
I'm touring all over the displacement map

Yeah my main goal is just to print it so if someone has the files then that would be perfect
Etsy temporarily suspended their shop because of copyright claims but they out in appeal. But they do have a new website now that they sell their files and kits and stuff on now. I haven't completely looked through it yet to see if they posted all of their files on the site but if files aren't there for Noah's sword just either contact them through the contact us section on their site, or they have their email listed under contact on Instagram and tell them you are wanna buy the files for Noah's sword from xenoblade chronicles 3 and I'm sure they will work out with you on how to pay for them.

Im not sure if you just played XC3 or if you played 1 and 2 also. They also sell files for Shulk's replica monado ex from xenbolade chronicles: future connected, Nia's chakram rings and her daggers from XC2, Mio's chakram rings and moebius M's chakram rings from XC3.
I also know of another designer as well who sells files for Pyra and Mythra's aegis swords from XC2.
Just thought I'd let you know
Thanks for the link, I'll be sure to check them out! I've already printed the Monado Replica and Pyra's Aegis so I'm trying to complete the set
