Hi all. Apologies if this isn't the right spot for this question. But a friend of mine said his work is throwing out about 20 spools of never used PLA. I don't know the brand of it, but I asked why it was being thrown out. He said "they said its 2 years old so its no good". I did some research and as long as the pla is kept in a reasonable climate (not humid, too hot or too cold), odds are it would be ok.

But I'm wondering is there a way to know by looking at it or feeling it, if its no good without putting it in the printer? 20 spools of PLA for free seems like a great opportunity, but I also don' t want to wreck my printer!!

If I can snap the end off is that bad? Or should pla bend ?

it should bend. you can still use it if it snaps, but quality may suffer, and its more likely to snap mid-print. different brands age different ways. i'd take it. worst case, you toss it, which they were gonna do anyway
