#✅ - nozzle dragging on print

Hello,

Just switched to a .6mm nozzle and starting this mandalorian helmet. The print quality is looking pretty good so far but the nozzle drags when moving during each layer at a certain point. It doesn’t appear to affect the overall print quality but maybe on thinner taller models it would knock it over? Z hop is not enabled.

Just want peoples opinion on this.

I assume you have changed the settings in slicer for 0.6mm nozzle

#

Might need to calibrate for flow rate %

Yea I changed it to .6 in cura. Left settings pretty much stock other than infill, support % and temps. The helmet actually looks pretty good. The only odd lines are on the supports. I wonder if enabling z hop will bring it up for movements. Just wanted to try without it

Layer height?

.2

Try increasing the layer height to 0.3mm, it should work better

Isn’t .4 increments standard? So .28?
Keep z hop disabled?

#

What about for more detailed helmets? Swap back to a .4 nozzle and do smaller layer height?

0.04mm is the magic number, yes you can either use 0.28mm or 0.32mm. The main point of using larger nozzle is to have faster print time, so increasing the layer height is not a problem

#

Try with zhop disabled if it still drags the print then enable it

#

Larger nozzle size prints faster while sacrificing quality, if you want better quality on the details then you need to change back to 0.4mm

Awesome, thanks for the advice! One last thing. I want to try this techno mando helmet next. Do you think .6 nozzle could handle these details? I’ve only made two helmets so far (starboost and mando)

i think it could

#

personally, i would use 0.4mm nozzle, i dont mind the long print time

K. It’s not hard to swap back. Just re doing the z offset takes a little bit of time.
What layer height for those details? .16?

#

Probably turn it into a 3-4 day print

#

Vs 2

novel condor
#

.2mm

#

you will sand it anyway, and lost details can be rescribe again if you want

K, thanks
