Quick question regarding sanding between coats of primer-paint-clear coat. I know your supposed to sand your 3d print then primer. Then if there is visible defects sand and prime until it’s nice and smooth.

After it’s ready for first coat of paint. Example: gloss black-gold-clear coat. Do you sand between different colors of paint or before clear coat? Or does the only sanding occur before and after primer?

I personally don’t sand between colour and clear coat, others will, but if you put the prep work in first then this should be fine. If you sand too much 400 + grit it will make it harder for the paint to stick.
So just sand up to 400 if you want it smooth and then after the clear go up as high as you want to have it.

Ok thanks. Sanding after a few coats of clear won’t ruin the glossy finish?

Depends what grit you are using, something like 800 or higher should be ok, but test first as if you want a really high gloss finish you can sand up into the thousands .
It’s your preference, go with a finish you are happy with.
A few clear coats imo is a good idea but don’t too too many as you will see it more like a layer.
