I recently purchased and put together a CR-10 V3. I have updated the firmware with Marlin and ran a test print this morning. The bed was leveled properly but I noticed the printer wasn't pulling filament into the Direct Drive Titan extruder. I was able to manually push filament into it which allowed it to print briefly but there's no pulling force whatsoever. I know sometimes it can be the filament break detector being to tight but the filament isn't taut anywhere.
#Filament not being pulled by extruder

is the extruder pressing on the filament?
How could I tell if that's happening?
can you see the extruder gear?
im not familiar with the CR10 but if you can push the filament all the way through and the gear doesnt move then the extruder is not engaged at all
The gear moves consistently when I'm printing but it doesn't appear to be touching/moving the filament
I was able to manually just push the filament through and it extruded successfully but it wouldn't grab the filament and keep it going
im not talking about mid print. When the hotend is heated can you just push the filament all the way through
without the gear even moving
I'm heating it up now, about to check
Yes
I am able to
I'm not printing so the gear isn't moving, i turned the temp to 200 so the nozzle is hot and pushed filament through
I have noticed I have to pull back the plastic piece here to push filament through, not sure if that's normal
yeah, if you can just push it through then your gear isnt touching the filament
not sure how you fix that. My voron isnt the typical direct drive, but sometimes I forget to close the latch
It was all the same pic, just had to lower the size to get discord to display it
No worries, I appreciate your help @rapid cloud !
ah, makes sense
Is there anyone you know who is familiar with the titan extruder on the CR-10 V3 that might know what's going on here?
Ill ask if anyone has a CR 10 in #chat-printing
Thank you!
Quick update for anyone looking in this thread, I determined that the gear on the extruder is moving in the wrong direction which is why it isn't working
Okay! So I figured it out, I just had to update the firmware and enable the REVERSE_E_MOTOR_DIRECTION setting.
