Hey fam <@&1224019530095919225>. Currently working on a song idea and the arrangement is not really finished yet as I'm currently still adding elements. Made a quick export of this buildup + drop (vocal is not mixed yet).

There's 2 versions, with and without the stab that plays at the start of the drop. I'm thinking about doing the first drop without the stab and the second drop with the stab. I'm not really sure about the stab though, kind of mixed feelings and I also get mixed signals when I ask for feedback. Any tips on the stab? Is it good or do you not like it?

And feel free to drop any other things you think should change 😄

i like the vocal, lead is a VIBE

#

that vocal right before the drop too hahahaha

#

the stab is very cool now that ive heard it a few times

#

i personally think it could just come down a little

#

just a very small bit but it doesnt need to be there because its still a vibe without

Gives me 2012 vibes 😄 I prefer the version without the stab; sometimes less is more. Or you have to improve your mix/EQ a bit. But in my opinion, you don't need it at the beginning of the drop. Maybe you could also try to build up a little more tension before the drop starts, i.e., briefly suspend the leads for a few bars so that it kicks more when the drop comes.

90's iconic remake of a classic one.

  • Your kick / bass relationship is spot on
  • The lead in the buildup should have a gentler sidechain or have it turned off entirely until the drop.
  • No stab. The drop is impactful AF without it. If you want to keep it, add some sidechain and EQ out frequencies that clash with the lead and bass as it's otherwise muddying the mix.

Nice work so far!
