#Milky Chance - Synchronize (Zovati Remix)

honestly, its pretty much there. The mixdown is better than some mixdowns by famous producers in the same genre although there are a few things you can do to improve the mixdown. In terms of the arrangement and songwriting, its on point; that being said, I would like to see some more evolution of drums over time. The drums are pretty much the same throughout the whole song. Even messing with the sustain of the hats so they are a bit more closed and then open up as the song progresses could help. Rides / shaker can also be added over time instead of always present.
If i have to nitpick... Hats and clap could have a tiny bit more of their own space in the mix. I like to sidechain all the highs (above 4-5k hz) of everything that is not the hats, to the hats. So the entire high end of the song ducks ever so slightly when the hats hit. Just the smallest amount of sidechain can really help separate the hats from the rest of the highs, which makes the mix feel a bit more alive. You can do this with trackspacer set to an extremely low percentage, although i just do it manually by having a high shelf on all sounds that are the hat, and i have that shelf duck by 1-2dB every time the hats hit. Same with claps, I have a small notch around 1-2k hz on everything that isnt the clap and it only ducks when the claps hit. (again trackspacer with a very very subtle setting can accomplish this. But again, they sound really nice already, this would just be the icing on the cake.
LET'S GO @civic carbon - You just moved up to level 7! Who does this? 🔥🔥🔥
If you group the kick bass and drums together in a bus and add the smallest amount of compression (like 0.5dB) I think that would enhance the dynamics of the song ever so slightly and make it come a bit more alive.
Also you could probably boost the lows and highs on the master bus by 1dB.
Lastly, you could carve out a tiny bit more space for the vocals to punch through... as the vocals are sometimes getting a little lost in the mix, and I'd prefer them to be more up front. (This is a little bit of a subjective thing though). The lead synth and the main reesy bass are nice n loud and mixed really well. And that would be perfect if there were no vocals... but in this type of track its the vocals that really carry the tune. So i think they should be a bit more up front and dominant in the mix. Easy to accomplish with a tiny bit of subtractive EQ on the lead synth and reesy bass. Then the vocals will cut through a bit better.
Really well done overall
The changes i'm suggesting are very minor, but combined, these changes would help give the main elements of the song a bit more clarity and the overall mix would pop a bit more. The average listener probably wouldnt even be able to hear the difference.
