We Are The Future feedback pls?

Hey Iova! Congrats on your first track! I shall give it a listen now and type feedback as I listen.

To start, I'd consider adding a string/pad synth from the very beginning to balance the synth. I think the volume/balance of the lead synth could also come down a touch. Drums wise, I'm not sure the kick and clap are suited, but may well be the vibe you are aiming for.

The vocals sound really good. Perhaps lower the volume in the mix and adjust the high frequencies with an EQ. Speaking of frequencies, and I've only just really noticed that your bass line could use some lower ones. Maybe layer it and then EQ out the lows on one channel and the sub lows on the other where you can then increase the volume of the sub lows if that makes sense?

Yeah, the resonance and reverb on the kick throws me slightly, but again, that's personal preference.

Ultimately I really enjoyed listened to it, (listened more than once) and gave me a bit of a throwback to the 90s whilst still sounding modern. Also I love the vocal and for your first track, kudos - I wish my first sounded as well structured ๐Ÿ’ช

Congrats on your first tune! Also typing as I listen...
(Listening on Presonus Eris 3.5 monitors with the matching 8" sub)

  • Agreed with Alphajay that the intro needs something to tease it a bit more. A string or reverb/ delay would be good
  • I like the melody! Very "floaty"
  • The kick is big. A bit too big IMO. It feels like the low end is muddy and overwhelmed by the reverb. Perhaps some sidechaining on that could help.
  • I don't really hear any bass other than the kick, which doesn't sound like it's tuned to a specific frequency so it sounds like it's a mid and high heavy tune with a big ass kick lol... Am I not hearing it or is it not there?
  • I like the vocals! They could probably be dropped back a few dB though.
  • The pads are lovely! Sidechain or LFO Tool could make them super interesting
  • Clap can come up a touch in the mix

One overarching thing I noticed is that your 16th note hats and 8th note "running" synth don't have much movement to them. They're quantized properly, but they don't have any variation at all. Sidechaining them or running them through Kickstart 2 or LFO Tool would help with that a lot.

TL;DR, you're off to a great start! You should be proud of that as your first tune. A lot of the things I mention above are things you'll learn as you continue to produce more and more. Several are also taste thoughts too. All in all, well done!
