Don't build your base in the "drop zone", generally, as this happens, yes. the items shouldn't despawn if they're in auto-generated bags like that; usually there's no decay timer on those, so that might be a console bug.

rough area where the dropship landed? I don't know. We just learned over the years not to build in the same general area that the dropship lands in.
