Hello,

I am experiencing an issue in Icarus related to the Contact device.

When I interact with the device, I can see the list of operations, but none of them are available to select.

Here is the situation:
Previously, I played in this open world with my first character and completed some operations. However, my saves for that character were lost, so I had to continue playing in the same world with a new character.

After that, the following issue appeared:

  • Some missions show: “This mission is already completed in open world”
  • Others show: “This mission is already completed in open world. This mission is currently locked. Complete previous missions to unlock”
  • Missions that I have not completed show: “This mission is currently locked. Complete previous missions to unlock”

As a result, no operations are available to start.

It seems that mission progress is tied to the previous character, which prevents the current character from progressing.

I would appreciate your help in resolving this issue, and if possible, restoring access to operations or resetting mission progress in this world.

Can you add a picture of the mission screen?

Missions shouldn't be locked to a specific character afaik, they're tied to the prospect.

Unfortunately I can't read Cyrillic, but it indeed looks like a bug.

However, you state that the saves for your previous character got lost.
Did only one character disappear, or did more data disappear (like all player date)?
Because if you lost your profile files for Icarus (stored in %localappdata%\Icarus\Saved\PlayerData<SteamID>), that's where all progress is stored (including the missions you've done with your characters, as well as for example the currencies you've earned, the workshop items you've bought etc).
In that case I can see how a new character wouldn't be able to start any mission further in the mission chain (this is assuming you're running your prospect on a Dedicated Server and that's the reason your prospect is still there).
If that is the case, I'm afraid you'll have to start a new Open World to do the Operations you've already done on this prospect, which will unlock the remaining Operations on this prospect.

Usually losing your files happens when you move to another computer and didn't copy over the profile files (for example if your disk crashes, or if you re-install your computer).
Additionally if during game start you get a message stating there's a de-sync between Steam Cloud sync and local files and you choose to use the Steam Cloud sync files, it can restore older files (an issue with Steam Cloud sync that has affected quite a few players already).
If it's caused by restoring an older version of Steam Cloud sync the mission progress info is usually kept though; so I'm more inclined to think (again, assuming all profile files got lost) you either re-installed your PC or you got a new PC and did not copy over the profile files.

So basically: What got lost? Only one character, or did you somehow lose your Icarus profile files completely?

I would like to clarify how this issue occurred.
Previously, I played Icarus, created characters, and completed multiple operations. Later, I decided to switch to the official Steam version of the game and purchased the required DLCs.

After launching the Steam version, I noticed the following:

  • Some of my characters were missing, while a few older ones were still present
  • All previously created Open Worlds were still there
  • My currency progress was partially rolled back (to an earlier state, likely before a certain update)
  • Mission progress appears to be inconsistent or partially desynced

As a result, in my current Open World:

  • Some missions are marked as already completed
  • Others are locked as if prerequisite missions were not completed

From what I understand, launching the Steam version may have overwritten or rolled back my profile files, causing a conflict between:

  • the world (prospect) progress
  • and the player profile progress

Does indeed sound like your local files got overwritten with old(er) Steam Cloud sync files.
In which case not much can be done.

The best advice I can give to "get access" to the not yet completed missions on your prospect, is to start a new prospect (on Easy mode for example) and do the missions there which are already completed on your current Open World (if you have similar issues with missions on (one of) the other maps as well, do the same there too).
Because it absolutely looks like the mission progress on your account has got reset.

Note: Steam Cloud sync generally does not cover prospect files, but (part of the) profile files only - hence the prospects still being available but a big chunk of account progress missing
