#High RAM & VRAM usage On Missions

My VRAM is 8GB & RAM 16GB.
Every time I play a mission it is constantly on high 90% usage. If it reached to 94% the game crashes and displayed out of video memory. The CPUID HWMonitor in screenshot is when the game is running all on low settings. FPS is at 110 which I limit it to, and poolsize makes no difference (2,000 - 7,000 tested) running on DX11 (DX12 can't load into maps without crashing out of memory)

FYI, I bought the game during update week 55 on sale.

I've got 128 GB of RAM and 24 GB of VRAM, and Icarus will use up to 34 GB of RAM and, so far, about 18-20 GB of VRAM depending on what I'm doing. A lot of apps will use as much RAM and VRAM as you can throw at them.

So Icarus is notably requires a LOT of RAM and VRAM then. Understandable.

I mean, it does, but many apps will use it if you have it.

#

RAM is easy enough for the OS to manage generally, and it does no good to have it sitting there empty.

I don't have much apps running when playing. Just Discord and Steam. But seeing my RAM shot up to 90% when playing Icarus (and only Icarus) is kinda scary. Is there any other way to lower it or do I have to upgrade my RAM to 32GB or more?

#

I've read some forums and Reddit that may have mentioned it might be an optimization issue or a memory leak. But I am aware my RAM is kind of lacking here.

Well, as I've said, I've had Icarus use up to 34 GB. There's nothing at all wrong or bad about seeing RAM go up like that. It's not like your processor, which generates excessive heat. If you start getting actual out of memory crashes, that's different, but that's usually when you've forced a game to use more than you have available.

Icarus could do with more optimization (almost any system could), but it's also just going to be heavy in terms of RAM and graphics. That's the nature of the game.

#

So, if you're crashing, try lowering some of your settings a level as a test. The texture pool is only for the VRAM; if you have the setting to "limit pool to VRAM" or something turned on, that shouldn't matter.

I've tired the lowest setting possible. I have no issue in terms of dropped FPS, only very high RAM & VRAM usage. Should I set the "limit pool to VRAM" to OFF? What does it do actually?
