#Is there a way to speed up steam patching?

I've had a couple of posts on this topic explaining the why behind patching taking so long:
Binary patching: #842253680606183434 message
Steam Libraries: #1012677378876657664 message
Short version, it's just how UE4/5 packages binaries coupled with how Steam performs updates. The devs already follow both Epic's and Valve's guidelines for packaging and uploading binary patches to Steam. Unfortunately, there's not anything the devs can do to improve the situation other than switching engines, and even that's not a given. Epic is supposedly working on a solution, but it's not yet ready and available to devs.
No other game in my library takes this long. Is UE4/5&SteamLibraries such a unique combination?
steam patching
Download patch data
creating new files from unpatched files and patch data
checking the new files
moving the new files to the game folder
this patching method can cause some problems
the patching takes longer
risk for running out of disc-space and/or fragmenting of files
yeah same here its the only game that takes that long and ive played others using ue4.... but its good knowing epic is working on the issue ... imma mark this as solved
The update on friday was fine. The latest small batch is a 64mb download but after it's downloaded the patching quickly goes down to such a slow disk rate the eta is > 1 month to patch. It's insane. Sat down to play ~20 minutes ago and still screwing with it. Restarting Steam and temporarily disabling Anti-Virus helped, now it'll only take ~15 minutes.
I think I know why it's taking so long on my machine -- I've got Icarus installed on an SSD -- but Steam is downloading and caching files on a different drive which is a HDD... wtf steam.
