Hi, hope you all are doing good. There's any chance of ravendawn client/game supporting linux through battle eye? I am running the game on Linux Mint through Lutris/Wine, I am able to play but I am being constantly kicked out of the server with the battle eye error message "unsupported platform". I don't know if it's intentional but can you guys please consider enabling linux support? I mean, Android is technically Linux and you guys have plans on releasing the game on it, can you also include allowing linux distros through battle eye? I am not even asking for official client support since I'm able to run the game through Wine/Lutris, I just want to play the game without being constantly kicked out. Thank for the patience, I really like the game, best regards

Team is already informed about the missing compatibility flag in BattlEye and they are checking/working on the topic!
🐧
That's awesome, thank you!
I'm going through the same problem, both tools that used to run ravendawn were bottles, now, neither the tool I used, nor wine, nor lutris and much less using Steam, I can run the game without being kicked by the anti-cheat, I don't understand why they make it so difficult! Since the beginning of the launch, they said there would be a client for Linux users, time has passed, and what do they do?
An anti-cheat that prevents Linux users from playing.
Congratulations!

Friend, don't get too excited, as this is the last option, they won't fix this anytime soon!
I'm going to end up quitting the game...
As far as I know, the dev team simply needs to contact BattleEye and opt-in to linux support.
But when will this happen? As we all know, a lot of things were promised and have not yet been fulfilled by the developers, and now this one, preventing other users of other operating systems from playing...

BattlEye is now compatible with Ravendawn on Linux! 🐧
Thank you very much!

Hello! A player just posted that the block and kick for Linux users is still happening...
Did they really enable us to play? I haven't played since the Pacth was released, I don't even know what changed in the game in practice...
I practically feel like I lost everything I invested in the game...
Yes I can confirm that there is an irregular issue with "Bad Packet" kicking out of the game. I'm collecting some information and reach out to the team to identify this issuee. But this seems not to be related to the origin issue that the Linux platform in general is denied.
They updated battleye to allow Linux users to play, however, the same issue that happened before, only comes later, because the kick happens in the same way, I've been trying to play since the release of the patch, and I still haven't managed it, I have no idea what's new in the game, it's embarrassing.
To give you an idea of how the game is, I logged in a little while ago, spent 1 minute playing, and the game crashed and the screen was frozen like this, below is the screen print.
After the crash, I receive the following error message given by Wine, however, I am using Lutris, with Proton, via Wayland, updated!
Wine is just a starting point, I'm also using the recent version, and before the game update, I was playing normally, and now these errors for no apparent reason.
And who says they'll update Battleye to allow Linux users to play?
I haven't seen any official announcement about that, nor is it known if they've contacted Battleye to provide support with Wine Proton
Just scrap battleye completely, it is a waste of resources on a game with 100 players
I think they tailored this more towards Ravenquest because public cheats that may emerge could significantly diminish the token's value there. Since both games share the same core codebase, cheats from Ravenquest might also work here, specially memory injected stuff.
But that's where the error lies, since the beginning of the game, the developers stated that it would have support for Linux, I just can't understand them.
But for Ravendawn, which is a pure RPG with almost no profits, there is no need, besides it has almost no players, and doing this with the Linux community is shooting yourself in the foot, I've been playing since the game's release, I invested time and money, and to then be chased away like this is a shame.
Game support is understandable with Linux, but Battleye isn't supported with Proton/Wine.
I tried installing Lutris and Wine without a flatpak so it could communicate freely with the OS without issues. Maybe that way I could run the launcher and Battleye at the same time, but I guess my kernel doesn't allow me to install 32-bit and 64-bit Wine properly. I have no choice but to get a hard drive and install a Windows version so I don't miss the game. It's probably unplayable on a mobile device, though
Almost no NFT game has support for Linux. I've been using Linux for over a year and I suffer quite a bit in that regard
Giving Lutris sudo permissions in Flatpak to communicate with BattlEye is not a good idea. BattlEye requires deep system access and usually doesn't work well with Flatpak for these reasons:
Flatpak limits access to kernel and modules: BattlEye requires direct access to the system and certain kernel modules, which Flatpak restricts by design.
Running Lutris with sudo is risky: Running graphical applications with sudo is not recommended, as it can break permissions on your home screen and create security risks.
Problems with Wine and Proton: If BattlEye doesn't correctly detect the Wine or Proton paths in Flatpak, the game simply won't work.
🔹 Recommended solution: Lutris outside of Flatpak with Wine 10 (you already have it installed) is the best option to avoid issues with BattlEye.
If you absolutely need Lutris on Flatpak, try giving it full system access with --filesystem=host and using flatseal, but there's no guarantee that BattlEye will work properly.
It is still risky but less than using sudo
I do agree with you, and I also hope for some love for linux users.
Did someone managed to workaround the "Bad Packet"/"QueryTimeout" BattlEye error every couple of minutes?
I didn't try again, I left all the Lutris and Wine broken xD I have to delete everything and do a new installation. But I'm working so I don't have time to try, I also don't like uninstalling and installing everything all the time. I already tried and I couldn't avoid the error.

It's really difficult, I was playing before with bottles, among the Windows emulators it's the best, and with it I wasn't successful, so I got some people together at the tavern around here, and some of them told me To use lutris, and that actually worked, if it weren't for battleye, the funny thing is that the devs are doing the opposite of what they promised from the beginning, one of them was support for Linux, now They are about to end compatibility once and for all.
I also hope to at least comply and honor ourselves since we spent time and money on the game, and contrasting with bad packet, it can even be solved, but it would result in a ban.
I'll have to look for an old 80GB hard drive to put a crappy Windows on it. Maybe I'll build a retro PC with another SSD with Batocera and Windows with the slow disk. xD
We should talk to Knighter about what they're doing. There's no time left, and all Linux users are excluded because of that anti-cheat. Maybe there aren't enough of us for him to care.
I didn't put any money into the game so I can't really demand much. Even if they said they would provide support it would be good to know when, at least a date to know if I should look for the disk with Windows so I don't miss the start of the game.
I am not even a linux user, I just refuse to download a kernel-level spyware for a game with >100 players. When I offered them constructive criticism as alternatives, I got banned from the discord. I want to play GvG/PvP and make content, but these gamemodes are never available. I know that you guys invested a lot of time and money in your characters, and we all expected a certain-level of professionalism from the developer. They distinctly made promises "We aren't laying off all our devs after launch. We are going to consistently update the game and encourage feedback." This simply was not true at all. The current state of GvG/PvP has the look of a complete scam.
And, regardless of the reasons that players can no longer play the game, they have a right to be upset. But, I am not interested in being scammed. The reddit for this game is proof enough of how many players that were passionate about the game and feel scammed by the developer. If I were an employee of TLG I would open my eyes to the treatment of players as replaceable. You are just a steam-launch away from getting that reality check. When the ship starts to sink, will you expect to be treated differently?
