When I download the mod on curseforge it downloaded a zip file and I have no idea how to install it on minecraft

Curseforge doesn't download the mods directly.

You need to use a launcher like Curseforge, atlauncher or prism to download the pack by importing the zip

as Virus said, it works with either Curseforge, ATLauncher or Prism

You import it using the create instance button

#

You do create custom profile. Click import then provide it the zip
