Just a question after downloading the zip folder does the mods take extra space?

Looking at my instance of the modpack (using curseforge), in total it is 230 MB ish.
The mods themselves being 125 MB.
And my world saves being 53 MB (this will be way more, I played multiplayer).

The zip is small due to it only containing a manifest.json and modlist.html
