We will definitely look into this and get a more well-formed opinion. We are in the process of trying to improve all the learning/resource tags, so this is great timing. I will say my initial opinion is almost verbatim what is posted above.
Today, W3Schools has largely resolved these issues and addressed the majority of the undersigned developers' concerns. For many beginners, W3Schools has structured tutorials and playgrounds that offer a decent learning experience. Do keep in mind: a more complete education will certainly include MDN and other reputable resources.
I think W3 schools is great for your first couple of weeks learning JS, HTML & CSS. It is super simple and easy to understand. While it is objectively less comprehensive than MDN, MDN can be intimidating the first couple of times your look at it. I now exclusively use MDN, but I know I would not have progressed as fast as I did without W3. (again, this isn't the final comment on this, just my initial feelings)
