#Reports of American soldiers on the ground in Gaza

you should post that in disinfo
I'm not a military expert, but do have American military uniform patches from family members who have served. The white on the American flag here looks brighter than the 'dingy' white of the Israeli flag here. Also, I've never heard of an soldier wearing a Galani brigade (middle patch) emblem outside of the IDF
Golani not Galani
First of all: could you add the source, please? How else can others help verify things?
Secondly: What Aeryn said. (I think you can even find it there from a previous mention).
And third, I have a black-and-white US flag patch just like that from a brand of backpack. (I took it off, actually.)
I'll leave this up for now but all that picture is evidence of is that someone had $7 to spare
And as Subtle says, always add sources. Otherwise the post is meaningless
Agreed I was unsure and was wondering if anyone else had heard anything of this nature. The information was highly suspect.
Should I remove this post?
The quote was from the tweet, I was curious that it may have not been factual. It would seem that my assumption might be correct.
I think sharing the tweet will be good in case anyone wants to explore this as an example of mis/disinfo
I don't see a tweet?
odd
oh okay let me find it again one momen
It's really hard to tell what's up and down
While he does not "look" like he is Israeli, I am honestly curious how this tweet was started and if that person is a mercenary or something else.
@cloud spindle
It's an absurd claim to make based on pictures of one guy. Again, you can buy those patches anywhere. He could be a dual citizen, etc. Looking at those pictures and thinking that they constitute evidence of US military involvement is just silly
Unfortnunately this sort of thing happens all the time. People see a picture, misinterpret it and don't verify it, tweet it, and then it spreads
agreed I was not sure but I am also curious about his status is he a merc or IOF
How many mercs do you know of fighting for Israel?
Previous reports have all gone like this:
"ZOMG! This [fill in nationality] mercenary is fighting for Israel!"
"Actually his name is X and he emigrated to Israel with his family when he was 12."
So you could see if you can find more pics from the same account that originally posted it (I doubt that's the Indian tweeter above).
The white US flag is an IR flag. It's not uncommon for US troops to have them but they are also all over the open market and milsurp.
There's been no evidence of mercenaries in Gaza. There's been numerous claims of Mercs/US/other country and it has always come down to dual national or immigrant from X country.
Here's some discussion of previous claims of Americans/Mercenaries in Gaza.

Thank you, is there a way to pinpoint the source of this disinfo
It's from various sources. Most of the Gaza disinformation is just from people seeing US patches, or IDF troops speaking x language and jumping to mercenaries or foreign troops instead of dual national. These same style claims have been made in Ukraine-Russian war, based off similar photos or videos.
Times of Gaza I believe was the main spreader of the FOG = american private mercenary conspiracy.
Talha also claimed to have a source

Here's another post from Tal, where he claims unarmored humvees in Gaza as evidence of mercenaries.

This footage is very interesting. IDF AIL Storm Jeeps are armoured & only armoured are deployed in both WB & Gaza. When Resistance is even targeting tanks why would risk troops with these Jeeps? It means these were Mercenaries meant to secure the convoy as I reported last month.

He looks like the guy I saw in another image
We should realy run facial recognistion on images posted in this server to often we have the same person pop up again and again
Ukraine legitimately has an international battalion fighting, though. I don't think the IDF has the same kind of dealio going on.
Israel has the "right to return"
Hm. 🤔 Iirc, that means they guarantee a place to live and some other benefits if foreign Jews sign up for military service?
I don't know about that, but they can get citizenship, and sign up for Israeli service. Ukraine's foreign legion quickly started cutting down and only taking foreigners with needed experience (veterans) pretty quickly after the war started.
The Law of Return grants Jews from the Diaspora citizenship should they choose to move there. Citizenship comes with health benefits and there are organizations that provide assistance in relocating. The last I knew neither housing nor employment is guaranteed by the government. For those below a certain age there can also be free University. Those who return under this law are not required to do military service though they can sign up if they wish. Their children born in the country are required to do national military service
