I'll be honest: while these books seem quite interesting on their own (I've heard especially from Bates' book), I have to admit that this selection is very much centered around very similar topics and either US topics or that are very centered in the US. I would have welcomed a bit more of diversity in topics
We can always look into past suggestions that lost the vote for little and would probably gather a lot of interest
I generally reach into the past to try and make the selection varied, and do a "losers but not by much" round every few months
but I do exclude "books from academic publishers that cost a fortune" to try and keep things accessible
Yeah that's totally fair
but I also try to give each suggestion its time in the sun 🙂
I am currently reading Fatema Mernissi's Sherazade goes West. It's from 2001 but I think def still relevant
