Hello 🙂 i've tried for the past few hours to try and find it myself but im not having much luck: https://www.afp.gov.au/news-media/media-releases/afp-releases-images-linked-melbourne-man-wanted-alleged-drug-offences
The AFP is releasing new images linked to a Melbourne man wanted for his alleged involvement in criminal activity causing harm to Australians as part of an international drug syndicate and is appealing for public assistance for information about the man’s life in Mexico, where he has created a new identity.
it was more for interest to see if anyone on here could do it, i just saw the original post on linkedin and was curious. Is this ok? i hope i havent broken any rules!!!
Hi! Thanks for this. No worries, we just like to make sure that the geolocations aren't for like, stalking purposes
I think is fine, it's reminiscent if the Interpol #TraceAnObject campaign
Oh ok! Makes sense 🙂 yes it does! Was surprised to see this request over LinkedIn
It’s interesting that the AFP says “The Australian Federal Police has released a photo that Anthony Sitar sent as a private message which details aspects of his life in a coastal city in Mexico popular with tourists and expats. The picture includes a distinctive mural in the background.”, but they don’t name the city. If they know the city is popular with expats then it comes across to me that they at least think they know what city he's in.
Maybe the authorities are trying to hold their cards close out of fear of him catching wind that they are honing in on his location and are concerned he will flee if he knows.
I’m a little hesitant to dive into this one. If we figure out where this picture was taken, I worry that children may lose their father. I have a hunch about what city this is, but I’m going to hold off and take some time to learn more about Anthony Sitar.
I’m not familiar at all with this case. Do any of you have insight or thoughts about this fugitive? Is there any context that would be helpful?
It doesn’t look like this is some two-bit dealer, if that helps.

I spent way too much time looking around Tulum. This was on the wrong side of the country. I was too focused on thatched roofs along the east coast.
I think the photo was taken from the second story here 20.901473°,-105.414554°
Are my eyes failing me, or do I see another damn mimosa tree on the right side of this image? These trees are everywhere now.
It could very well be. Don't get nightmares...
They do very well in those kind of climates lol
fabaceae is lousy with those bipinnately compound leaves 🌿
(that emoji's just pinnate but hey, it's an emoji, not a Redouté drawing lol)
I think that was some fancy taxonomy speak. I'm going to have to look up just about all of what you just said. 😅
