#US/México Border

I've made this because of the Gulf Cartel vs. CJNG conflict that began on April 28th in Tamaulipas as well as the impending end of Title 42 on May 11th.
More video of the significant military deployment to Tamaulipas. This is in response to days of cartel violence that has ravaged the state with fighting still occurring in Tamaulipas and now Nuevo León. I believe Mexico will have to deploy more forces to reestablish security.
This is from today, a late military response from the Mexican government. Fighting has been ongoing since the 28th.
The Groupo Escorpión 🦂 is the gulf Cartel's special forces unit. Tamaulipas, the state directly south from Texas, has been the Gulf Cartel's stronghold for decades at this point. CJNG seems to be trying to force them out of the Reynosa/McAllen border crossing to gain the valuable smuggling route there for themselves.
I include the emoji because they frequently use that on twitter
More videos of up armored cartel vehicles operating near Reynosa, Tamaulipas. Tamaulipas state borders Texas. Reynosa is just across McAllen, Texas.

Technicals from both sides have been speeding about the area. I've seen reports of fighting in
Reynosa (primarily)
Matamoros (a little)
San Fernando (a lot last night)
To put it mildly, CJNG's offensive has been running into problems. I've seen at least three different angles on a Groupo Escorpión ambush they waltzed right into two nights ago in a forested area, and based off what other folks are posting the only likely area that happened in is San Fernando.

also be SUPER careful looking through tags like #tamaulipas and #reynosa on twitter right now, I saw an intimidation video of (cw torture) ||a man doused in gasoline being set on fire in what was probably a rural area outside Reynosa.||
Wait times of up to eight hours are being caused by enhanced inspections of commercial trucks crossing the border from Mexico in South Texas. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is conducting enhanced inspections of all northbound commercial trucks at the Veterans International Bridge in Brownsville and the Free Trade International Bridg...
Somewhat related - another gut punch for Tamaulipas on the commercial front. Between the cartels and this, makes sense Nuevo León is exploding
Inspections again, dang. Those caused a lot of problems last time around, politically and economically
Mexican army nabbed some of the Gulf Cartel leadership in Tamaulipas. Let's hope this tones down violence in the state.
Tamaulipas has a "do not travel" warning from the U.S. State Department right now.
U.S. officials will begin denying asylum on Thursday to migrants who show up at the Mexico border without first seeking protection in a country they passed through. It's part of the Biden administration's effort to crack down on illegal border crossings. At the same time, there are plans to create new legal pathways, including 100 regional migra...

cartel conflict in Reynosa continues
looks like the part between the Rio Grande and this bottom crossing road, but google earth isn't getting me close enough to match fences and lights
that's where the parallel dirt road is closest
I found a much clearer view of the shooting, CW: combat
also CW: blood in the tweet this tweet is replying to
Today has been a pretty consequential day on immigration. So let's go through everything which has happened in the last 24 hours, starting with this morning's big news: the Biden administration's finalized new asylum restriction, first introduced as a proposed rule in February.

Title 42, the trump era immigration policy, officially ended at midnight CST this morning.
For @InSightCrime, @stevensdudley & I spent last week traveling between Matamoros and Reynosa to better understand criminal dynamics in Tamaulipas. Despite what some may say about a clear takeover by the CJNG, the reality on the ground is far less certain. https://t.co/90VPOpYe5f
Do not forget to add spoiler tags and content warnings, please!
Should be noted the involvement of Los Metros, Zetas Vieja Escuela among others.
In the conflict, CJNG wise the only physical evidence of their presence has been the capture of ‘monstruos’ marked as belonging to CJNG. Although, there’s ongoing claims that members of Tamaulipas state government are withholding information regarding CJNG’s role in the conflict
I really need to look into it deeper, if i remember right seven groups were initially claimed to be involved, but i’ve been too busy to properly check the claims
Please let me know if any of the videos i posted need to be censored or given content warnings
Links to where these videos are from are important - let me know if you need help with that
Will post one second

The second video sadly i do not recall where it was posted

OSINT in Tamaulipas is really hard because of the sheer amount of gulf cartel factions, and it is also hard to independently verify CJNG presence
Most of the claims I've seen of CJNG presence in Tamaulipas is Gulf Cartel Escorpiones posting propaganda videos claiming victory over unmarked "CJNG" types.
haven't seen Escorpiones mention CJNG i may of missed it, rather have seen them show off members of CDN, Los Metros and Zetas Vieja Escuela
It's very possible I got it mixed up, you're probably right on that
mi español no es muy bueno todavía
regarding Tamaulipas, 'El Chili Willi' of CDN was recently killed along with CDG posting a manta in Miguel Alemán naming him as a traitor and behind the kidnapping of family members of military personel, may be referring to the kidnapping of the wife, daughter and family friend a little while ago
@mild wolf is it fine if i post a censored picture of a written communication? Censored due to it having photos of a body
Can you DM it to me first?
Wow, that's definitely a warning, has it been geolocated?
(Also I feel sorry for whoever were to point out the spelling mistakes
)
I don’t believe it has yet i can check
I should clarify this is not the only banner that was placed i believe there were multiple
An additional banner was placed by Grupo Escorpion recently in which it identifies leadership of Los Metros, Zeta Vieja Escuela, the Arzate Organization who is suspected to maintain an alliance with Los Metros, transit cordinators and names Cadereyta Municipal Police

Not so much border specific but good writing that goes over the development of organizational and morale patches in cartles, does use some examples from closer to the border regions
there's so many designs over the years and through various groups i wished the piece covered more
https://youtu.be/fWgJKx-Vzn0 contains footage of members carrying the Operadores Droneros CJNG patches, no violence is shown
Autoridades cuentan con imágenes del “Flaco Drones”, quien sería el estratega y operador de los drones cargados con explosivos

i had photos of a CDN patch that was on a chest rig seized in Tamaulipas near the beginning of when it popped off with CDG, trying to find it
Found it

I mean, they have no choice as far as I can guess
Yeah… immigration has been a serious humanitarian/security/political issue for a long time depending on which of the political spectrum you’re on in the United States. Sadly not surprised politicians are using the Ukraine aid as hostage to advance their agendas on the border
And also I can imagine it’s a real circus show in Congress right now since a lot of Congress members are preparing to leave town for Christmas break and all
Should be interesting to see how this pans out for the next couple days
Good morning from Eagle Pass, the latest epicenter of the humanitarian crisis along the US-Mexico border.
Thousands of migrants slept here, waiting for overwhelmed border agents to process them.
More than 10,000 migrants crossed the southern border in the past 24 hours alone.

At least 1,500 troops were sent to the border to begin their new mission as part of President Donald Trump’s long promised crackdown on immigration.

Hey! Dave here from the Electronic Frontier Foundation. Anyone want to take crack at geolocating this Anduril surveillance tower in Big Bend Sector, Texas?
Going to post this to the geolocation channel
The US military has significantly increased its surveillance of Mexican drug cartels over the past two weeks, with sophisticated spy planes flying at least 18 missions over the southwestern US and in international airspace around the Baja peninsula, according to open-source data and three US officials familiar with the missions.

This project was created by one single individual who is invested in the organized crime situation.
By making this interactive map I do not intend on glorifying cartel violence and I actively want to aware more people to the critical situation in Mexico.
This map is definitely not 100% accurate and probably will never be as...
There's also a Geoconfirmed map for Mexican drug cartels
