One benefit of mermaid is that the Github UI natively renders it. It is the only diagramming tool supported by Github UI

Thanks! Unfortunately I'm on GH Enterprise with work and it's notoriously bad for not having feature parity w/ public GH.

I'll give a hello world diagram a go bc it'd be lovely not to maintain an external flow for diagrams.
