I've seen the usual suspects that seems a bit fragile/high-maintenance, like OBS (not that OBS if fragile, but doing your own recording/rendering/storage of a screen and audio can be). Still, it would be handy to easily record discord calls.
Regarding switching community calls to Discord, some community members still can't access Discord, unfortunately, but they've been able to use Zoom to attend these calls.
There are many discord bots to record voice, but there is no API for video. In the past I was using my second discord account and an old iPad - I would join the call from the iPad, muted, and record iPad's screen.
iOS video API is pretty good, so you can use it to not just record, but also livestream the video to another app (Youtube, Twitch, etc) - I never tried it though
ofc you can use old PC instead of old tablet, then you have even more options. My point is - do not use the same device to talk in the call and to record it, you will be in lot of pain to balance the audio levels between devices, and its way too easy to forget you are recording/streaming and accidentally alt-tab discord window
Thanks for the feedback @restive fractal ! That is the biggest piece of advice that others have given me as well ๐ I heard a horror story of a whole broadcasting being ruined since the recording caught their chat screen instead of the demos ๐ฆ
There are some other alternatives, who are primarily aimed at multi-speaker broadcast calls, they might be a better choice. There are a lot of them, I don't have any recommendations myself
