Hey so this sort of setup is still very much in experimental/power-users-only status, but it is possible, just expect some possible instability in case we change the interface in the future.

When starting the dagger engine process you can append e.g. --addr tcp://0.0.0.0:1234 to the args you invoke it with. There's more detail on starting the engine process and connecting clients to it here: https://github.com/dagger/dagger/blob/main/core/docs/d7yxc-operator_manual.md#runner-details

Also note that it's not an arbitrary buildkit - that's no longer supported, as we wrap & manage the buildkit daemon in a very specific way
