---lets talk quality of life--- (settings) <- mean it can be configured by the user in the settings menu :>

1: compass choices (the compass is useful but having to constantly check the map is a little annoying)

  • compass as it is or mini map with a compass ring around it (settings)

2: player indicator for friends in UI

  • friends health bar (settings)
  • friends location indicator in HUD (settings)

3: use storages simultaneously

  • this is very much needed!

4: camera problems..

  • default camera pitch angle seems slightly too steep, i don't mind the unlock camera feature but that usually ends up in a lot of frame drops if i leave it looking 70 ish degrees from the ground to horizon.
  • default pitch angle for camera to return: like an adjustment value in settings eg: -5 -10 -15 etc. (settings)
  • also the current pitch + FOV makes it slightly hard to tell depth in some cases such as in caves so this setting might help.
  • and supporting that maybe slightly wider FOV might help too! (settings)

5: boat seating!

  • the raft and the boat have a decent amount of space for at least 2 people (boat 3/4) . It would be great if a friend could sit on it instead of standing and having them and their pet glitch across the ocean. A good reference would be Valheim's mechanics to sit on the small benches on the vessel or hold the mast. (not sure what could be done about the pet aside from de spawning them)

6: chunk loading optimization..

  • the way LODs load is strange, they seem to de-spawn smoother but spawn in very suddenly causing frame drops. and imo de spawning the entire landmass seems unnecessary at close range. or could use better LODs or placeholders for it
  • my computer has an RTX 3080Ti with an i910900k, but the framerate goes as low as 30fps when it drops. averaging around 60fps..
I'm not exactly sure on what the root cause could be in the low performance since overall the game is fairly simple, and most of the props seem very low poly and wouldn't need a lot of optimization per asset

7: id like to see less loading screens.. but that might be too much to ask

8: this ones a nitpick

  • if the ocean had less sheen/fresnel at night time it wouldn't look strange in the dark. considering the islands look fairly dark and less lit by the moon
The fresnel looks okay at the default camera pitch, but when tilted it looks a bit strange. Maybe cancelling the brightness factor with the camera angle as you make it steeper might help with that.
