whenever i make a curseforge modpack with only create and steam 'n' rails mod it just starts booting up and then turns off after like 5-10 seconds, no crash log no nothing.

Make sure you're using the latest beta version
it might be favoring the most recent stable release when you add it through the "add mod" button
you should be able to go into the modlist and manually select a version of the mod by selecting the mod going to versions and changing the version
