#Redstone Link on Conductor Does Nothing

Many people have been saying you can use a redstone link on a conductor to then set frequencies allowing you to control it. While it is correct you can absolutely put them on the conductor it seems to have no further features past this for some reason. I can't right click to set any frequencies. I can't get any movement frequencies connected. Can't connect a controller to it. I also can't seem to find any videos or information exploring what redstone links on conductors even do? It's really odd and maybe at this rate its just completely broken or theres a decent amount of misinformation on them.

Again right clicking with nothing in hand does nothing. Right clicking with the controller just powers it on with no settings for the conductor. Very confusing and I'm wondering if theres any documented use here? Also new discovery even the Remote Lens doesn't work. I'm so confused on whats up.

I want a train drill to basically just automatically drive when i toggle it on and stop when i toggle it off but the closest ive been is having a redstone link on the ground which ends up with the train going away from that chunk and stopping. It sounds like its basically not possible to auto drive the train without putting a weight on the keyboard
