A bit of a short and simple idea i figured i'd put out there; but why not make different conductors for different tasks depending on the casing that you use to create them?
What about larger conductors built to make use of that one feature that lets you remote control them - giving you a wireless body (with drawbacks) for mining without risk of death, or funny haha lore reasons on some servere to send a robot?

I meant like; certain conductors are better for that feature than others. For example: perhaps a train casing conductor is good with physical tasks due to being made of obsidian?
