Make gravel held in the off-hand behave like girders when placing track. I think one of the major aesthetic elements missing is ballast (stones) under the track like in real life. Obviously you can place gravel under flat track, but it looks pretty ordinary on inclines. So instead, have a gravel texture which bends and curves like girders do, appearing to evenly support the track above. This would make for really nice smooth inclines without floating track segments.

Have you tried using cobblestone slabs on the track, after it's created?
DBE's got ballast blocks and ballast slabs
yeah it just straight up doesnt
it is literally
black gravel
dont use dbe ballast
use a mix of stone, andesite, cobble, & gravel
genuinely much better
anyway this would be raw im gonna b real
id love a way to place ballast-like materials along curves under the sleepers without having to dig up underneath the rails
Sadly they've already mentioned the impossibility of this
That's not quite the effect I'm looking for, but pretty nice now that I've checked it out. I'd like to have the rail ties visible though. Maybe a third click would provide that option?
