Hello. Wanted to work on some project this summer and come up with one doubtful idea. I thought of making a tool that will use NLP to scan your resume as a professional and determine what can you do to improve your qualifications (in different fields, not just programming). Also thought of adding feature that will help with finding job in your region based on your resume and your preferences or understanding what the employer is looking for in employees. The reason why I find it doubtful is that platforms for job seekers already include features that will suggest you options based on what you specified (region, expected salary, experience etc). Another reason is that if you are, in example, digital artist the core of your resume are your works (that you present to employers) and AI will not be able to evaluate them. However, this is the only useful and not too complex idea I could come up with. How do you think if such project is any good? Can I use it in my univ application this autumn? If you hjave better ideas for the project I will be very grateful.

You’re already thinking about whether it’ll be useful commercially or not when it’s just a summer project, and not even uni yet. I’d say just build it and improve over time. Personal projects come in two types, technical projects where you build things to learn technologies and don’t touch again, or passion projects where you improve little things over time. This probably is a technology project, but if you do find it enjoyable and passionate about the topic, you’ll find out how to differentiate eventually. Either way, start ahead is the right answer
