#Feeling mischievous and evil today. Steam age cleanroom + other shenanigans

what steam age machinery could possibly need a sterile environment to work in
Making circuit components. also pain over realism π₯ π₯
sterile crafting table π₯
unironically kinda wanna make that now ππ i mean i do plan on having like a steam circuit assembler instead of hand crafting stuff
is this going to have a custom cleanroom type?
or is this just in kubejs
The filter casings look nice tho
yeah and i mean it already does have it :D fully functional, just gotta add some recipes still. oh and thank you!!
Lmao beautiful
Why call this clean room?
It can be some sort of Steam room, filled with pressurized steam for specific craftings
Pressure Chamber
Crafting inside of a vacuum
Steam powered
Could gate ulv circuit components behind a steam multi

Beautiful
High pressure steam age
considering i already made ulv components like the conveyor module and electric pump today, i could probably do this. though maybe more as a more advanced steam age/expanding on the already existing steam age. Forcing the player to do some cool processing lines to get to lv. i meannn adding one more intricate age on top of all of these shouldnt be that bad.... right? (uev-max circuits are from gt--)
High pressure steam age
Superhot steam age
Supercritical steam age.
Steam age never ends
dimensionally transcendent solid fuel boiler:
Well, my addon already has three extra tiers of single-block boilers and I am not planning to stop
solid steam:
just copy GT:NH 3.0
Back again with some more shenanigans
Who says the assembler should only have 1 fluid input? :D
steam age components + buffer
third primitive furnace multiblock with its own brick type
and finally. i made the communist manifesto which is an post game item that will grant you with anything for free. Though it does come at a price of giving you the hunger effect.
π
Feeling mischievous and evil today. Steam age cleanroom + other shenanigans
Add more wires to rexture
And make bronze more shiny or it looks like clay
You can always make a better texture for them :)
Ah yes, the steam room. Also known as a sauna.
Sauna circuit crafting π₯
One day we'll get a play test in here
they look a bit flat tbh
the sauna π
Gotta honor my Finnish heritage somehow :DD
No idea how i didnt see this yesterday, but anyways been quite busy with studying/exams recently so not much development has been made. Now that those are over ill be focusing more on making this again. Best case scenario ill have steam age finished in a week or two which ill probably release for playtesting. Current progress is that i have most machines i want to add finished, however i still need to make a couple processing lines and do quests
Yeah this feels fair for steam age :)
(Im yet to go through a single chemistry course in my current place of education. This was done with looking stuff up, my experience playing a bunch of gregtech packs and my very basic understanding of chemistry from years ago in middle school. My goal is not to make a fully realistic pack, however if there are any blatantly wrong things do feel free to point those out)
might still need some tweaks in the amount of items required
The kiln can now parallelize recipes, perform both campfire recipes aswell as having its own recipe type. And it also requires coal not tied to the recipe completion but rather to a 1 minute timer (Great strides from the unneccesary hinderence department!!)
Finally locked in and started doing quests
another use for creosote (used to make qol items such as the travellers boots, tool belt and backpack)
Steel processing line i made instead of revising for a math exam i have tomorrow
(last step is possible by just throwing the hot ingots into water)
What about the Math exam tho π€¨
i should be fineee. its just some basic analytic geometry stuff :D
Tragic π being so fr the only reason i even have nitro is cause i did the free trial thing and forgot to end it π
couple multiblocks i wanna add since currently you need quite a lot of steam to get thru the steam age
Make dual boiler output redstone signal if it going to explode
very excited for GregTech: Eternal Steam
Both boilers now work. Ill upload proper screenshots/maybe a video tomorrow. Also i lowkey forgot modrinth doesnt support ftb mods so ill either be redoing all the quests or forcing players to manually add ftb quests (probably doing this since i dislike how odyssey quests looks)
Then again odyssey quests would make it easier for people to play since i dont plan on releasing this on curseforge so we'll see

might actually be done with steam age soon
oh also while create is in this pack like 99% of its functionality will be removed. i only wanted it for the trains and the way to obtain those will be gregified. so basically 0 actual create gameplay mechanics involved
also also idk if i showed this before, but the veins are decently larger, but appear less often (every 8 chunks)
no idea how this works for balancing
i just dislike exploration in modpacks π also kinda gives an incentive to do trains early game maybe hopefully
finally interesting steam age!
steamroom is peak
I just can't wait for the GregTech: Sauna to drop
OP why theres 2 charcoal quests?
Two ways to make it I'd assume?
that still should be 1 quests
Ig
why no curseforge ;-;
make it a gif now =P
One's to show like it being obtained thru coke ovens and other one is showing the entire processing line to making sulfur
old controversy, but id still just rather use modrinth since its what im used to
what all those 3 alloys btw?
Stronze and Breel :D (thank you gtnh april fools update) and last one is just tin alloy
stronze and breel π π
it was too funny of an idea to abandon
one is 2x steel 1x bronze other is 2x bronze 1x steel
wouldnt that make a recipe conflict in alloy smelter?
somehow how i imagined it
different cards maybe
steam alloy smelter doesnt have them
breel is made with 2 bronze and 1 coal / coke
fixed
instead of using iron and coal you used bronze and coal
yk what yeah thats a good idea. could even be done inside the pbf
considering you have to mass produce steel i honestly might π
but with 8 parallels!
i should just make the dimensionally transcendant bricked blast furnace π
is that steamgate?
cause why not
what is this π
whats the point of making it then, eats steam and u can make 2 normal ones instead
bro didnt play greg π
you have what
ill probably do 8 parallels or just 4 with no speed debuff. my design philosophy for this pack is hard processing lines, but no annoying gameplay stuff like gtnh does, cause while it does have a bunch of fun recipes despite them being difficult. some stuff feels like its just waiting for hours to even be able to progress
or i could just make it easily expandable so you could have like a quad steam blast furnace
played greg
make the steam pbf just one block taller π
make it the same size but with more bronze parts maybe?
oh this is kinda fire
i think this is fine
filters for steamroom
ooh
I think i cooked smth up.
You make Stronze in the normal block alloy smelter.
and then you make the stronze blocks to make this machine. Which lets you craft Breel
Mhmm yeah. ill probably do something like this
peak
omg im 100% adding this alloy
Helicopter helicopter
what wiki is that from
also how tf does it have helium π₯
https://gtnh.huijiwiki.com/wiki/HeLiCoPtEr. You really do find some gems when looking thru chinese gregtech stuff
chinese people just smoking some bullshit
Couple new multis. Primitive tree farm, Fuser (alloy smelter) and the steam powered blast furnace
still need to make recipes for the tree farm though
does anyone know if theres like a faster way to do recipes than just one by one typing them out in kubejs cause it gets a bit boring after doing like a hundred of them
Ig make a function for them
hmmm if thats like the only other option i lowkey might after finishing steam age just start working on another mod that adds a ui which converts the items there into kubejs stuff
so you dont have to
/kubejs hand
on everything
How does one recipe definition look?
yeahh. it gets a bit painful after a while. Unironically the most painful part of modpack development
Surely there's an easier way than writing everything manually
I can't imagine everyone just doing it like this and not getting mad to the point of making a solution
because it's not a big deal?
there are tools
they exist
they just dont help much
the biggest difficulty of recipes isnt writing them
its coming up with them
Ig I didn't use it so I can't say much
Fair
Forgot about the creative part of the process
idk for me its definitely writing them. ig im just bad at like repetitive tasks maybe
like a couple recipes isnt a big deal yeah, but having to do like 20 in a row does get a bit tiring
hold on, i can grab the mod if you want
the tool i mean
ah dang, can't remember the name
ive also made my own for java stuff
This is the first result for me
https://modrinth.com/mod/visual-recipe-editor
there was one that worked with gtm recipes but didn't have any of the unique recipe ingredients or conditons
like for example it could only do euT, duration, id, then item/fluids
what is this π
no idea
helicopter
thanks
are you planning to release an early access/preview when steam age is finished
like license violations :p
GTO be like
Ohhh so thats why the GTO stuff reminded me of gtnh so much
idk abt gtnh themselves but ik that there have been a ton of times that GTO has taken code without proper attribution and ignored anyone who said anything
They also make some really suspicious decisions like adding an anti-tamper guard to their core mod
Read this issue lol
https://github.com/GregTech-Odyssey/GregTech-Odyssey/issues/1552
"We do not accept bug-fix requests framed as accusations, commands, or bad-faith assumptions." Is an insane response to that. what π
yea like bro wtf
maybe there was smth said in chinese that i canβt read
But in English thereβs nothing rude
I have so many questions like nothing makes sense to me from that. Why would they want to disable it? why would they not inform the players about it?? and why would they refrain from answering to the previous two questions
like what could possibly be their motive
Chinese state level censorship just for a basic question π
Me when furnace is just a box
It's a good box tho
No its not
needs a better tree farm
like some sort of.... diggyfactory greenhouse......
the anti tamper nonsense and the hostility make you wonder if theyre mining bitcoin or sum shit π
Why even have the mod when they disable all of its functionality
I translated the chinese part back into english and its literally the same
yeah thats what im wondering π π like i dont see any reason other than something like that to act like they do
no progress today. too busy playing subnautica 2 π
also i got exams from the 21st to the 28th to thatll also slow development down
Have fun!
you dont need to progress every day bro
i forgot about my modpack for 4 months and everything is still fine... so dont worry
no nothing is fine
shut up yes it is
mhmmm ik ik. i would still prefer to get early game done soon, so i could actually start working on the cool stuff π got so many cool ideas that just cant be implemented yet lol
(mainly nuclear stuff at ev and a couple things at uhv+ but those are a bit far away so im just going to focus on making my treefarm for steam age π π π )
When nuclear ulv
yk what i have kinda had the urge to make a proper ulv age, but idk lol
nuclear stage for every tier trust
the usual problem is that steam age already exists and can do LV recipes on the machines it has so adding a ULV age that makes sense is a large undertaking thats probably best in an expert level pack
Mhmm exactly. Only way i could really see ulv used is with machines that dont normally exist in the steam age, but since i already have the different steam variants for the assembler, distillery, mixer, etc (though they do have their own recipetypes to avoid access to easier recipes) i think the best option is just to move onto lv. I feel like ulv would probably just get more in the way than be a cool gameplay mechanic
ulv would be better in a pack where steam doesnt or barely exists
or is super super limited
finally did the tree farm thingy (+ processing line for fertilizer :D)
steam chemical reactor

ig they can in this universe
they can now :D
horrible
mehh, gregtech was too easy anyways
its not about hardness =P
welll whatever it is about i can always just use the excuse of 99% of this was created with the idea of "lol thats a pretty funny idea ill add that"
oh yeah also.. added this :D
Waterline ahh liquids
The best way to add features imo:
Coolness > funnyness > pain > realism
lowkey remembered the existence of that right after i got the idea
Holy shit distilled water proc line
or actually no. after i implemented it
F
cats >>>
100% agree
And that's why I'm adding the 67 line to diggyfactory
realism is cool, but id rather have silly stuff than constantly try to make everything as realistic as possible
what π π π
Silly sausageππππππππππππ
not actually a thing that i did but it's on my mind
what do you do with the 67 line and what does it include π π
probably a bunch of sludge
getting the exotic tung tung logs from a planet in the barnard's star system to carve them into tung tung tung sahur and beating him to make the Tung Tung Star which makes a diddy ahh emitter to make the khaby lame mechanism
using the ai datacenter multiblock to make the new AI Slop liquid
67th element of the periodic table ofc
Holmium is a chemical element; it has symbol Ho and atomic number 67. It is a rare-earth element and the eleventh member of the lanthanide series of elements. It is a relatively soft, silvery, fairly corrosion-resistant and malleable metal. Like many other lanthanides, holmium is too reactive to be found in native form, as pure holmium slowly fo...
making a machine that simulates an amazing digital circus
Combining 67 burgers to make the Eric Burger, crafting a speaker to put in a machine that farms aura by saying Darren Watkins Jr, mutating the tung tung sahur tree into an Are You Are You Coming To The Tree, making a phonk composer multiblock, all of this to make 67, then with 67 67's and 67 holmium blocks you can make a tier 67 rocket that brings you to Six Heaven
7*7=49 line
7x7 = 49π€€
after doing recipes for the past couple hours i think i finally have a recipe for everything in steam age
pretty sure all thats left now is to write quest descriptions and a few tooltips
Oh and also i have to add a new alloy for faster early game fluid transportation since youll be making a shit ton of steam
youve heard of Potin now get ready for Medvedev
boring
make CELL CHEMISTRY
for steam chemical reactors
that would be 100 times more interesting
having to use fluid cells for chemical reactors in gtnh is basically what originally inspired me to make this π π
Cell chemistry is so dumb
It was made for a time when ae2 couldbt pattern fluids
Why it still exists is beyond me
i also dont like cell chemistry, its why i made my vial items not need a vial to be made :v
had some ideas on how to make space stuff actually interesting in this pack (for when i get to that point)
looks like the gtnh devs had the exact same ideas π π https://youtu.be/FuaTJaefo2Q
While developing Galaxia, we ran into a problem that most Minecraft space mods eventually create without even realizing it.
At some point, planets stop feeling like actual places and instead become remote resource nodes connected directly into one central base. Once interplanetary logistics becomes effectively instant, distance stops affecting ...
What emotion is this supposed to convey π
laughing at your misfortune
Oh π π
u wanted to make planet with no content except ores?
in most packs ive played, you go on planet once to get ores then theres some sort of way to farm the ore
just make some recipe that has a biome/dimension restriction for the planet
Make processing on planets actually required and have cargo rocket logistics between planets instead of just. Go on planet, get ore, make new rocket, go on different planet, get ore, make new rocket and that looks for however many tiers of rockets there are oh and sometimes you might even have to place down a miner and an ender chest π±
Being so fr thats exactly my planπ π
oh wait thats so good
like the cleanroom requirement
but for the planet's atmospheres
That or making just ore transportation fuel expensive, but refining them into other parts is more fuel efficient
π
look into tfg, it has some logistics thingies
Ill probably let the player unlock wireless transportation inside dimensions kinda early as to make it less laggy. As for transportation between dimensions ill probably fully disable it from ae2
My main issue with stuff like this is it kills ac
Having to have a fully seperate ae2 net per dim
i think its nice
I just hate using non me inputs/outputs
smh
Without them you have less speed, you cant wallshare without risking voiding
tbh it all depends on how she wants to do it
but i think that not having a interplanetery AE2 system right off the bat is fun
it encourages cargo ships as she proposed
I suppose, just a risk players will have to be aware of ig
Dont wallshare fast machines
i feel like once you get to the point where you have super fast machines that risk voiding materials then youll have ae2 or a faster system
This happens in hv btw
With lcrs
ive never had it
Fair point, but i think these downsides are sacrifices id make to avoid just having a really boring gameplay loop between planets. And if you desperately wanted ae2 hatches. Its not that bad to set up a small system for it
mhmm! though for now i should probably try to get steam age finished before i start thinking about interplanetary travel.. ill probably start working on this next thursday since thats when ill be done with exams (still got biology, math and physics left)
goodluck
yea Iβve removed all interdim ae2 from AGE and TFG has it removed until UV/UHV afaik
Oh yea ender covers as well
its a better solution to remove everything bc otherwise ae2 just kinda takes over the late game and everything kinda becomes about copy pasting setups with it
i agree
mhmm exactly. too many modpacks are plagued by like too easy transportation across long distances. i want to keep like. straight up teleporting items really really end game
its why i get demotivated. they become so easy to trasnfer items that its boring and just copy pasting as haze said
What about creates storage system?
Depends on the recipe
If you donβt need item data, just use f3 plus h
Advanced tooltips
oh i already solved that issue (still wip and these are kinda outdated. ive updated this mod quite a bit after these)
just a little something im working on. no actual name yet
Could you make it usable for other modpack devs or no?
yeah. im planning on uploading it once i get it fully working. though if youre interested i can send it to ya in its current state (all of the gregtech stuff works and shaped vanilla crafting. ive yet to test any other types of vanilla crafting though)
I would like that very much, if it isnβt too much of a hassle or anything
lowkey forgot that even existed so maybe? ae2 is locked behind hv so ill probably have atleast some pre hv storage thing
Uelibloom. no idea what im gonna do with it just felt like adding it to take a break from studying
what those brown things are?
little like uhh tree branch/root thingies
treengot
the groot ingot
Ironwood is real
Slightly disappointed that none of y'all know what it's from π π
Also last exam tomorrow. After that I can finally lock in on doing this again
Not everyone modded terraria π
Missing out on peak
calamity mod spotted in gregtech server
Peak meets peak
I dont like terraria that much to fully complete calamity
never played terraria i wont lie
kinda changed the steam age questline
and wrote descriptions for the introduction quest line thingy
oh also regular furnaces dont exist
Thats tragic
Does that mean smoker and blast furnacΠ΅ (not multi) doesnt exist too?
yeah. cause thatd be too easy and fun and efficient :D
poor soul
wrote descriptions for these. will hopefully get the rest done tomorrow
pretty sure thats the only thing left for steam age
peak
Now make LV living hell
hell yeah!! i think itd be pretty funny to make aluminium production the same complexity as the plat line
also trains
Maybe there's something interesting in here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_aluminium
I didn't read the whole thing because it's long
But it's talking about first attempts and the origin of the metal from what I read so far
let me write descriptions
π
and also let me make planets i cook with planets
should have asked like a week ago and i would have lmao
sure. though no idea how long till i get up to a point where ill actually be doing space travel since i think ill have that at HV
did not think aluminium lore could actually be so interesting
Playtest!
maybe not
maybe not as complex
like 4-5 machines maybe
@fickle timber have you played satisfactory before?
4-5 is less complex than one of steam age processing lines π
"Beat" it back when it was 0.8. haven't touched it since
you could do a similar aluminium process
i think the one satisfactory has is neat
"GT : Sauna"
i like that name suggestion ive seen in this chat
very representative
I'm gonna be honest I don't at all remember how you get aluminium in satisfactory π π
It's funny, but considering the steam age is just a minor part of what I have planned (despite all the content I added it'll still probably be quite short compared to the others) idk how much it'll fit in a few months lol. Only reason that this is so steam central thus far is cause making everything alone takes a while lol
YEa thats a good point.
A bit short imo but we'll see. Size doesn't matter but rather how you use it π₯ π₯ π―
fire quote
tbh if i had actually learnt and finished learning how to code in java id love to work on something like this π
I just thought of something devious. Apart for steel (which youve done iirc) Make every casing metal easy to get, luring the player into a sens of safety then create the most attrocious lines possible
Yeahhh fair lol. Honestly I didn't really want to learn java either, but I couldn't make a cleanroom with kubejs so had to do it :D
π
how did you call the steam cleanroom
if it isnt a sauna its a missed opportunity fr
Mhmmm yeah. Or make it something where it's difficult to setup the processing line for it, but once you get it going it'll produce it forever/long time. Don't want to make casing metals too hard to obtain since you'll be needing them a lot for machines which you'll need a lot of for processing lines
Think currently its named "Primitive Cleanroom" the tooltip of it does however reference saunas
hmm
yes
alright
i actually had to learn java for a school project
but my adhd carried me away and i didnt learn a thing
Yeahhh real. Though surprisingly this is like the only project in a while I've been able to work on without getting too distracted from it and moving onto something else
yea well when its your own project and you like the growth its hard to sail away from it
Do recipes with primitive cleanroom requirement work in the regular one?
doesnt exist lol
yeah
how do u make an assembler then? Steam one works?
mhmm yes
oh okays
Its quite confusing to remember u have steam stuff and see electricity menu
now add special lubricant for complex parts such as robot arms and fluid regulator >=)
12 machine line
i mean i do plan on having multiple levels of lubricant lol
gt players when they are forced to play their favorite mod
^^^^
this too
^_^
uhh off the top of my head its the following
bauxite + water into alumina solution (liquid)
coal / pcoke + solution into scrap?
then alloy scrap + copper into ingots
mhmmmm alright. i could do something like that yeah
more quests
aluminium line tomorrow!?!?
either that or i get sidetracked and invent a completely new gameplay mechanic for no reason
thinking about doing some kind of botany plant stuff thats not really required for progression but would allow you to increase the efficiency of producing stuff. similar to oxygen with plastics but just better? ig. or just redoing how gt does research to make it more interesting than just scanning items
i think that instead of doing bees for stuff, you do something with MA or a totally custom ressource generation
it'd be interesting
it somehow looks too normal
I probably won't really be doing either. I kinda dislike being able to grow ores with plants or bees so you'll probably just be mining thru the entire pack or eventually a eye or harmony type of thing
remake geores to be balanced around gregtech
could have some sort of machine based around crystal growth
bro trying to steal the diggyfactory greenhouse
wait whats like your plan on the plant stuff so i dont actually just copy it π
nah dont worry its not like i copyrighted a mechanic
but anyways it basically works by making you keep track of all of the conditions in the greenhouse like humidity soil nitrogen temperature etc. and you have to make sure that theyre all in a certain range for you to be able to grow plants
yeahhh ik lol, just want to avoid just exactly recreating what youve been doing :D
Mhmmm alright. for me atleast rn i havent too much thought about the growing part more what you do with plants. i mean i want to have some kind of breeding system with them maybe and uses for them would be well the more efficient recipe thing i mentioned and potion effects for longer times. but honestly idk if ill even go thru with this plan and also when ill actually do this lol
breeding is cool
i spent like an hour yesterday just making breeding recipes for bees in my coremod
Almost 150 hours spent on this (probably more since this is just the time i had minecraft open)
Trying to design a logo thingy for this. no idea where i should put the text
3rd one looks the best (but id remake logo and text in general tbh)
same
it depends on the vibe she's going for tho
buts its a sbit too simplistic with that background
yeahhh im not too good at details π ill maybe try cooking something up
A logo should be simple
imo you shouldnt make most of the logo just the blue gt logo
Its like the hook of a song
If it cant be easily reconized its not good
I like 2 tbh
yeah thats kinda more waht im thinking. i mean imo its alright where its at currently, but we'll see. not the best thing ever but i dont really know what id change
u can always re-brand
ask ai for ideas and build from it
dont take an AI image
just take ideas
yeahh ig. i mean i dont really care about branding that much. i just wanna make my silly little modpack lol
thinking about adding some movement to LV. kinda between adding grappling hooks or dashes rn
dashing
add that one mod that adds the entire super mario 64 moveset
lol
whut
It's the aluminum line ofc
ikik
but what are the items
we need names here
i bet the liquid that gives 1.152 buckets is the alumina solution or something
oh thats cool
more quests. mainly already existing chemical lines. except polyethylene is now required at LV and its kinda hard to get since most ways to obtain are MV+
Scary
I like it!
maybe most important quests should be bigger?
start and end
what even is the PE production like in LV
Where are the bees...
You will wait in ze queue of bee breeding recipes und YOU VILL LIKE IT.
This is only half of it btw
huge news: slave acquired for quest making
surface indicactors too small to be useful
imo definitely better than having to mine down to check like it is in gtnh
gregified create recipes <3
no bees
Greggify the Productive Bees mod now!
Massive productive lines from basic materials > bees
its why all of my bees are for ores only
I've always thought the way pyanodons for factorio does material processing. Really simple to begin with but you unlock more efficient recipes as you progress through the pack. The idea obviously doesn't port amazingly to gregtech as your demand for a specific material such as alu kinda decreases after MV but if you could incorporate something like whats done for NH water line or what youre thinking of doing for lubricant that would be cool
sorry that's such a paragraph
mhmm yeah i am doing pretty much exactly this with polyethylene for example. its hard to make in LV but once you get stuff like the mv distillery you'll be able to make it more efficiently
thats good to hear then I just think its also such a cool concept I've also always liked the idea of having to make outposts secondary to your main base that need their own power infra and they run a chain or a series of chains via the use of forcing recipes to run in certain biomes and I think thisll work well with create trains as well
exactly!! i feel what many gregtech packs lack is the need for setting up multiple bases. cause while im not the biggest fan of exploration its mostly because it feels like a thing where its just "find place, get one item, go back to base" instead of having to find a location, setting up some automation infrastructure there and then running the results back to a central base
Ye Iβm the same Iβve never found βpointlessβ exploration fun but the idea of having an ever growing base and rail network running from my central base to a growing biome outpost is really cool
more quests!! (LV age is done????)
this scares me
I like that trains have a questline tho
they're fun
