9% return rate? monkaHoly

#

In simple wealth, I read that for index funds the return amount is closer to 4%

#

Also for retirement accounts, I know that for atleast the 401k you gotta pay some fee (10%?) for withdrawing before turning 60 right

#

Honestly I'm not crazy well versed in investments. I've only read Intelligent Investor and Simple path to wealth but I still need to consolidate

#

Also btw

#

are these numbers randomly generated?

#

I made something similar back in the day

#

or just static 5% growth per year?

#

Yeah prob best to have something static

#

I made a pet project by running simulations like that

#

there would be heuristics that would randomly assign promos, market fluctuations etc

#

funny to see how wildly different something can be

#

In one simulation universe, I apparently never make it past L4 and my portfolio is -4 million

#

In another I'm an L9 with a portfolio of 4.5 billion

#

Yeah I have a big leniency for reaching L4 within 2 years max

#

L5 within 5 years sounds reasonable

#

and I think I'm smart enough socially to make it to staff level relatively quickly like 8 years or so
