Is 50 hours/week manageable long-term?

This depends on you, I personally could do it for the first 1-3 years, but I’d probably want something chiller afterward. You’re basically working 9-7 pm every weekday, so if you sleep 8 hours, then you have only 6 hours of the day to yourself. Not too bad for the first years or so.

How is the SWE culture at OMC?

Unsure, probably worse than roblox

How do the name brands of Roblox/OMC compare?

If you want to stay in quant, definitely go to OMC. If you want to stay/go to tech, maybe roblox is better.

this decision depends on how much u value each aspect (wlb, what exit opps u want, what loc u want, etc.)

ifl if ur asking ab the viability of 50 hour weeks u care ab wlb a lot in which case blox is prolly the better choice

nobody in tech knows what omc is, there's a chance you'd have to go omc -> better name quant -> tech if u wanted to exit to top tech

that being said u could just grind in quant until u retire if that's viable for u

i think the expectations for the work you output are higher at omc than in tech

#

and also 40 hrs worth of work at quant is likely like 60-70 hrs worth of tech work (or so i've heard), so you might be doing more stressful / lot of work packed into the 40-50 hrs

Heisenberg is full of it haha.. OMC has great SWE culture, my older brother has worked there for 3 years and loves it

Take the money and grind. You’ll learn a ton and be happy. People in tech definitely know Old Mission. Theres exit opportunities anywhere when you’re a good developer

Way easier to go from quant to tech than vice versa btw
