Anime streaming webapp and crypto tracker are solid, discord bot usually overdone but those are some good stats
You’re a freshman, don’t beat yourself up over it, it’s expected
Internships will give you that
And this is a really solid start to be competitive for early opportunities
Yeah aim for STEP and the usual suspects
Think Google changed the name, but yeah all the freshman/soph programs
It’s like associate software developer or something now
Not sure, but still a lot of things open to early students you should keep your eye on
Do yk what sort of work you’re aiming for as a swe? You have a specific interest? Any interest in quant, ai/ml, or just feeling it out rn?
uhhh in high school i was mainly doing web dev
im staying on web dev now bc my student org wants it from me but im lowkey not sure what i want to do i just like normal web dev
i think i want to go fullstack because im mostly frontend right now
if i could become one of those figma warriors thatd be great for me
Gotcha, good to have an idea this early, most don’t
If you have any design clubs on campus go for that ig
yeye
Yeah can’t say specifics cause idk your uni or what companies you’d aim for, but good start, you’ll be one of the ones more likely to get early internships
I don’t, but I’d look online, should be a bunch of them
I’m a senior so I haven’t paid attention in ages 🥀
No worries, if you end up aiming for faang or something, might be worth getting advice from someone who knows your school/background once you’ve done an internship or two
ah yea
everyone in my club says i should be applying to jobs w everyone else rn
but then they said i should disguise myself as a sophomore or junior on my resume
Yeah make you grad date earlier outside of those specific freshman/soph programs
Companies hire mostly juniors
but then they would know once they see me irl
so its like i would get fired for lying?
ONE linkedin check and its over
ONE transcript upload and its over
😭
Well don’t put your grad date on LinkedIn that’s just obvious
oh
