local to t10, orz
are you applying for fall or spring?
oh
do you yk what youre trying to work in?
swe is broad, are you going for systems, infra, ai/ml, etc
so basically internships > research > projects
unpaid research at your uni if you dont get an internship for fall
is the best thing you could add easily
pick like cloud, databases, something relevant for your target tech stack to research in
your second project is cool but by far the most irrelevant
so i'd do research and replace that project as a short term goal
aim for another F500, youre competitive for like the tier below faang already
for spring
yeah
the guy in the other thread is emailing rn as well
its never a bad time to offer free work
a month heads up is better than not sending it
for research? not really
youre working for free most likely
yeah youre fine
be careful listing every tool you used once in your tech stack
your resume just reads like it isnt targeting a role
"little bit of this little bit of that" ahh resume, unfortunately that makes internship apps kinda rng
i mean w limited corporate exp its hard, which is why im saying do research, its a clear indicator of the level of work youre doing
its hard to really get specialized internship exp when youre not like a t10 student with no stress on offers
so do research in the relevant aspects of swe you want to work in, and then take that resume, make it target that same role/skillset
and then apply for spring 26 imo
i mean september isnt like too late for a spring offer, thats when i started my zon process last year
and got it for spring
its case by case, but you could make spring applications in time
worst case, you just apply for summer/fall and continue research or sumn
id just have a rough idea of what youre targeting each sem yeah
i mean yeah that sounds reasonable
you could aim for like 2 F500 companies and 2 research positions with 2 strong projects
maybe a role involved w like a club as a tech lead or some leadership role, TAing if you havent already done it could be good
TAing a class then researching under the prof for it is also common
shouldve asked about research with her
unpaid if the money was tight
do blind 75 and/or neetcode
then 2-3 a day to stay warm
yeah thats solid
for internships that covers most of what'll come up
you can also find company specific q's online
if you ever apply to unicorns some have their own annoying interview quirks
quant oas are largely automated
not sure i follow this leap
research is mainly impressive cause its a good way to show technical depth/problem-solving for undergrads
if you can tie it to a relevant domain or tech stack (database optimization, backend infra) or publish something
it shows you can discuss or literally show the depth you can work in
its valuable for swe roles, relevant if you research in the right domain, and more impressive than 99% of personal projects
Yea u good my boy
