I’m sending this back to Taylor

Thank you for your message and clarification.

I wanted to express my concern with the current onboarding process.

While I understand there’s a two-week processing period, it’s important for me to obtain clarity from the recruiting team as my start date is now less than three weeks away. Although it’s mentioned in the offer email that automatically notifications should be ignored, the ambiguity around which emails are automatic or ignorable has made it challenging to differentiate legitimate updates from system glitches. The recent “offer expiring” and “new interview scheduling” emails, for instance, were concerning and felt urgent, especially given their content and the supposed deadlines enclosed.

I appreciate that the team is actively processing responses, but these issues create a lot of uncertainty and frustration.

For such an important transition, a smoother and more reliable system would alleviate much of this stress and provide greater assurance to new hires. I hope Amazon can work towards making this part of the process more seamless for future candidates, as it ultimately reflects on the company’s commitment to a positive candidate experience.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

My response

#

Thank you for your prompt response and confirmation of receiving my acceptance of the offer; and I’m glad that we were able to agree on the glitching situation.

However, I feel it’s important to reiterate my concerns and clarify a few points, as the issues I’ve raised may impact future candidates and reflect poorly on Amazon.

  1. Impact on the onboarding process
These glitches have a direct and significant impact on my onboarding process. As I’m expected to relocate and secure housing on short notice, the unnecessary uncertainty regarding my offer status created by these glitches greatly affected my ability to commit to signing a lease agreement, potentially resulting in loss of housing options and even missing start date due to the lack of housing entirely.

  2. Lack of Clarity in Communications
Given that these glitches are clearly well known to your team, I believe the responsibility falls on your end to ensure that offer emails provide unambiguous and sufficient information about what the potential glitch-related emails candidates may receive can look like. No reasonable person would receive an “offer expired” email without warning and not seek clarification, especially considering the importance of these communications in such a high-stakes process.

  3. In my initial emails, I merely sought clarification regarding the “offer expired” emails I received, which were alarming and created understandable concerns. At no point did I complain about the speed of the processing or the timeline for my survey. To characterize my inquiries as complaints or frustrations about processing speed is not accurate, and I feel it misrepresents my intention.

  1. I sent only one email per glitch, seeking clarification, and only followed up afterwards because of no response and the urgency tied to the short timeline I’m working with. I do appreciate that the recruiting team was able to eventually get back to me and make clear that those emails are indeed sent out by mistakes.

I trust that the system and human errors as well as any related issues will be addressed, and that a more streamlined process will be implemented for both the recruiting team and candidates moving forward.

and btw, the original email prompted his passive aggressive response was:

Dear Amazon Hiring team,

I hope this email finds you well.

I accepted the offer today as of 11/18/2024.

However, I just received the below email on 11/18 stating that I haven’t accepted my offer by the 11/19 deadline and thus the offer is expired.

I believe this is possibly a mistake on your end, and would you mind kindly investigating this matter?
