Yea in this market having your last professional experience be 2 years ago will be a big killer in resume screens. You need to capitalize on your network (your linkedin recruiters) or bank hard onto a major production-grade project for a bit.

As it stands your bullets are also somewhat weak and smells of someone trying to tie in metrics where it doesn't fit e.g., "Developed validation tool to ensure data integrity in RocksDB... improving processing speed by 39%" or "Optimized database queries by 500%" - neither of these make immediate sense (how do you "optimize queries by 500%"?) and for them to be the first bullet of your experiences will kill your chances in interviews with people that critically eye resumes (a lot of companies).

Your internships should be explicitly clear (call them internships) and you should cut down on the day-to-day points (e.g., "adopting Agile practices... utilizing daily standups and Kanban boards")

Your projects should also summarize the goal of what you're trying to do, not just the various beginner-level techniques you used.

I’m not really versed in Canadian employment rn

#

but if you are getting interviews, you said you’re making it to the final

#

at that point it’s strictly about doing well

#

In general, if you’ve only done internships 2 years ago - imo you’re underqualified to land entry level swe

the interviews that you’re failing, have you reflected on what goes wrong what kind of stuff is the HM/interviewer asking you?

trying to gauge if you’re getting interviews cuz the recruiter didn’t thoroughly check your resume and if you’re only making it as far as you are due to that or not

Do you think after the HM/interviewer has a solid idea of your background - they’re still giving you a fair shot and you’re failing after that due to fundamentals/skill issues? If yes - the resume doesn’t matter and you need to work on interviewing (mocks)

But do you think the interviews fall apart as soon as they start to see the real picture (your exp was actually just internships, both were also years ago, etc)
