I think Godot is a really good choice 👍
I would say the most important few concepts would be things like game state, entities, ticks, and that should be a good foundation to communicate on. You don’t need to know all the details for how a game handles it, but a lot of games operate off that model
I would say that Unity is the most popular software, but I would also recommend to learn Godot.
