So I get to step 6 of the computer control setup, and I can see the switch screen, and the UART shows up in the serial port dropdown menu, but the lights on the arduino keep alternating and it won't connect.

I have tried swapping the tx/rx wires, installed the drivers, re-did the wiring to make sure everything is snug, and bought the adafruit cable from the link in the guide.

The log continually spams "2024-08-29 20:02:05.939948 - [Console 0]: Re-Send: PABB_MSG_SEQNUM_RESET - seqnum = 1", and I'm not sure what that means, since I've tried the troubleshooting options for serial connection errors, and nothing worked

The text next the the "reset serial" button. What does it say? "Stopping"? "Connecting.."?

New day, so taking another go at it, and still not working. Tried swapping the tx/rx wires again, and still not connecting.

The lights do stop flashing, but it still isn’t connecting

Getting the same repeated message in the output log, of re-sending a reset message

Although now it is stuck on stopping

If I switch off of the virtual console program, and go back to it, it goes immediately to “connecting”, even if it was just on “stopping”

Wires in the right positions = flashing lights

Wires in swapped positions = single light on (constant, not flashing)

That’s what I’m getting

My UART is probably defective, since it still isn’t working after trying a bunch of different wire combinations

Try a different usb port? Otherwise a new UART wouldn’t be a bad idea

One other thing to try is to swap out the jumper wires, in case those are defective (unlikely).

Still didn’t fix it.

And I already swapped out the jumper wires for new ones, still nothing

Just swapped the wires a second time in case I was unlucky enough to have two defective sets of wires, and the lights are still flickering while the program is stuck on “stopping”

Just checking, the Switch dock is powered, correct? i.e. it's connected to a power source.

and you're using the green/white wire for Rx/Tx? black for ground?

yeah. it may be worth trying to order a new UART and return your current one since it might be defective.

sometimes amazon resellers can be sketchy. consider buying it from adafruit directly.
